Control Systems Engineer Technical Reference Handbook (International Society of Automation) Review: Good for the P.E. exam - It’s a good reference book Review: PE Control Systems - Took the PE Control Systems Exam Oct 2018 and passed. This book does have some errors. But, it is an ok study guide for the test. It did help me answer several questions on the real exam. A bit pricey, though, on a per useful question/solution basis. I feel this book should be more like $40.

Good Comprehensive Resource, but Needs Index and Better Codes Section
I am using this to study for my PE exam along with an online class. The class relies heavily on this book, and despite there being a few typos it is a good work. My three complaints are that this should never have been published without an index, a listing of all the tables, and a decent codes section. There is no index so you have to know what general section of the book has what you are looking for and then dig for the information. This wastes so much time when I am doing practice questions, and after doing class lectures I want to spend as little time as possible hunting information down (studying for this test is taking up way too much of my free time and I want it to be over, ok?). There is also no index for the tables that often refer back to standards that should be included in the standards section of the book. The standards section as is only lists the standards and what is covered in them, which is useless when solving practice problems that ask deeper questions. Also, there are some questions that get you to a point and then tell you to go look up the rest of the answer in a table in another book. For the price, it should include these tables and not make me buy extra books that were published 30ish years ago.

Covers most subjects, but has equation errors
There are mistakes that can cause you to loose points on questions. But it is also one of the few books geared towards this exam. I would recommend this one and bryon Lewis book since this one has fewer mistakes.

Wtf? How can you trust this thing?
Had the book open for 30 minutes to do problems. Immediately noticed 2 errors: #1 the conversion from Fahrenheit to Celsius is wrong #2 no Type J Thermocouple Chart starting from 0°C. Knowing that, how can you trust that everything else is correct?

Good introduction
This is a good introduction to Control Systems and covers a lot of topics, but unfortunately it was barely useful during the PE exam. While one question was quoted almost exactly from it (although two words were changed to make it confusing), mostly a lot of vague questions that seemed to require much more specific resources. It's really a shame how bad NCEES is as an organization that there standard review system and no CERM-type book for electrical disciplines. This book really needs a major update for a new edition.

You will need other references for the CSE exam.
This book is an okay reference, it definitely does not have everything you will need for the CSE exam. Be careful as well, there are plenty of typos and no errata as of this review.
