I have used it on unfinished wood, stained wood and wood painted a light color so that it wouldn't yellow and it would be protected from spills and stains. You most certainly could use it on a painted cabinet door. I would do 2 to 3 coats, with a very, very light sanding with 320 between coats. Do not sand the cabinet door before you put on the first coat.

I use it all the time and it has never yellowed on any light or white colored furniture that I have used it on. It’s my go to!

Is the flat finish really flat?

Can this be used outside over chalk paint?

I've used it lots of times over chalk paint and it looks gorgeous. My favorite is to use a super fine sandpaper (1600 or more) after 3 coats before the final coat. Makes it feel incredibly smooth.
