Joy

This is a really great Christmas album from SCC. I have enjoyed his body of work since the early 2000's and I think this may be my favorite album of his I've ever heard although it's probably a tie between this album and "Speechless". He's a great musician with a talent for describing ideas from scripture in song without them coming across as "cornball".... which is how I feel about most modern, contemporary Christian musicians. (apologies to those of you who enjoy that music. It's just not enough meat and potatoes for me)

I'm gonna start off by saying I am one of the biggest SCC fans there is! So I am a little biased. I'm so glad Mr. Chapman is releasing some new music, because his tunes and song writing are incomparable. He is a classic in the CCM genre, and this album is another collection of great Christmas tunes that belong in your Christmas play list! It's not the best of his 3 Christmas albums to date (My favorite is number 2), but it is a testimony of his faith in the God he loves to release an album called JOY only a few years after a family tragedy. I highly recommend this album to be playing on your Christmas playlist shuffle this season!

Steven Curtis Chapman delivers the goods! His new Christmas album "Joy" is such a pleasure to listen to. SCC has been a favorite artist of mine since the late 80's and although I lost touch with his music in the late 90's, I am now getting re-aquainted with his back catalogue and ordering his CDs. My favorite tracks on Joy are: "Christmas Time Again," "Christmas Kiss," his cover of "Christmas Time Is Here," and "Christmas Card." The entire album is feel good and worthy of repeat playing. God bless Steven Curtis Chapman and his ministry of music which never fails to lift my spirits!

First off, I love this album. Steven offers up some wonderful new songs with which we can praise and worship the King.He also has given us some good recordings of traditional Christmas classics with his own unique spin to them. While these are good songs that he does very well, these songs are also why I only gave this album four stars. These are, as I said, good songs. There is nothing wrong with them. However, why does any Christian singer feel the need to include secular songs on their Christmas albums? I mean, there are SO MANY great Christian Christmas songs to choose from!With that said, I don't want to take away from Steven's talent and God-given gift. Both of which shine throughout this entire album. My preference is just to be able to worship and praise our Lord with EVERY song and I just can't do that with this album.

Awesome Christmas CD. For sure to get you in the Christmas mood. From the updated version of "Joy to the World" to the brand new song "All I want for Christmas is your kiss". I can see many artist, especially Michael Buble recording that one. This project is simply a joy to listen to.

For those that have continued to faithfully purchase SCC music as their family has navigated this admittedly difficult season of life - Joy will will be an exciting return to the style and joyfulness in music and songwriting that drew us to SCC to begin with. The music is wonderful. One of his best albums in the past five years!!!Makes me look forward to Christmas...and to the next SCC album. He has found his joy for sure. Welcome back SCC!!!!!

Steven Curtis Chapman is our favorite male solo (musical) artist. We buy anything he releases without question."Christmas Kiss" is not his usual style, but I love the way he expresses his love for his wife on his albums. It's very sweet.Our family has a deep affection for the Chapman family. May our Heavenly Father bless and keep them and may he bless YOU as you listen.

I don't own all of SCC's albums - but I like to find new Christmas music each year. Sometimes it seems to be cookie-cutter and manufactured. But, every once in a while a rare gem comes around - and that's what SCC has done with his latest. Great guitar work - across a number of genres/styles - fun arrangements, and solid vocals, make this worth the download. Thanks for nailing it, SCC! Merry Christmas!
