Great beginner GPS watch
I've had this watch for a little over a week and am very pleased with it so far. I do notice it takes a few minutes to acquire a signal when it's cloudy out, but it's pretty quick if the sky is clear. The distance tracking is accurate, and the screen is easy to read. I would like the "beep" for each mile to be a little louder, but that's not a huge issue for me. The watch is comfortable & doesn't slip around. It was easy to set up (didn't need the instruction manual) and took a couple hours to fully charge right out of the box. After the initial charge, it only takes about a half hour to an hour to fully charge when it's low. Garmin Connect was very easy to set up as well - just download the program, plug in the watch to the USB, & it will register easily. After every couple runs, just plug the watch in & hit the upload button - maps, times, distances, etc... all there in an easy format. I run about 20 to 30 miles per week on average, and this is a great, simple gadget to help with training.

Happy with this budget GPS running watch
I bought this to replace a lost (oops!!) Garmin 610 that my wife had given me. The 610 is quite expensive, and I determined my preferences pointed me toward the 10: I prefer buttons to a touchscreen, don't use a heart rate monitor, and don't need any fancy features. The 10 seemed like a good option. As it turns out, the 10 is everything I expected, with one point of dissatisfaction.Happy: Pace, distance, time & average vs. instant paceI knew I wouldn't be able to see distance, pace, and time, but I just calculate time in my head given the distance and instant pace. Yup, I use instant pace--it seems accurate, doesn't jump around much, and is more useful to me than the average pace that may include a much faster or slower prior section of running.Happy: GPS signalThe GPS acquires a signal acceptably quickly, which is more than I could say about my 610. though by all accounts signal acquisition seems to vary widely among users, conditions, and even among watches of the same model.Happy: form factorThe 610 is undoubtedly sleeker, but the 10 works for me. In a running watch, I prefer function over form, and the 10 delivers. Buttons are very usable and the screen is easy to see and understand at a glance. I have small wrists and the larger (men's) version is a good size, with ~1/3 of the band remaining. I would caution men to steer clear of the smaller version because you may find the band too small. Was nice about 610 vs. 10:Turns out the wireless data upload the 610 offered was something I took for granted. It still required the little USB interface, though, and I prefer only having one accessory for the 10--the power cord that also uploads. But wireless is always better. Not happy: watch storage spaceMy 10 tells me that it doesn't have enough memory/storage space to accept the two updates that the Garmin software update tool says are available for the watch. That's poor form on Garmin's part, especially when I have no runs saved, so the watch is as empty as I can make it. This knocks off a star.

GREAT watch for the no-frills runner, but watch the wristband.
This is my second Garmin Forerunner 10. Pros-- LOVE the simplicity of it (only 3 functions- time, distance, pace...perfect for the most fundamental runner who doesn't want or need a bunch of bells and whistles). Love the color scheme. Cons-- the GPS takes a minute to catch the satellite, and even longer when it's cloudy or overcast outside. (But once it does, you're good). Another thing I dislike about this is the craftsmanship of the band-- my first Forerunner 10 functioned perfectly for two years but then the band broke right where it met the timepiece, and believe me when I tell you that getting it repaired would be just about as expensive as buying a brand new watch. That's the only reason why this otherwise amazing GPS watch isn't getting a 5-star rating from me. One great thing about the Forerunner 10 is that a brand new one is considerably cheaper than it was a few years ago (probably because they have come out with the Forerunner 15 now, a newer edition but basically the same). In any case, I am so glad I went for my second Garmin Forerunner 10. A good investment and perfect for the no-frills runner who just wants to know how far they're going and how long it takes them to run their route.

A simple, reliable running watch. An alternative to data overload from your running watch.
We have two of these Forerunner 10 watches in our household. My wife uses this exclusively on her runs and plugs into her computer to load her runs with a quick USB connection. I bought mine a few years ago and will grab this one occasionally when my other higher tech running watches aren't charged, are wiggin' out, or I just can't find the one I'm looking for in my gear bag. The Forerunner 10 is a simple, reliable, accurate GPS running watch at a great cost.I had begun running with my iPhone for GPS tracking and this little watch is reliably more accurate and gives better pace information - and I was having problems with sweat and moisture with my phone. The FR10 doesn't have heart rate monitoring or wireless connectivity or live tracking or any of the digital feedback that my wife says spoils the joy of running. She shakes her head as she watches me "gear up" before running out the door. Admittedly, I upload and track every run with my HR data and cadence info and all the data Garmin makes available. But if you just want to get out the door and run, see how far and fast you're going, then buy this watch. It's really all you need at a reasonable price.

Can't fault it!
This was purchased as a 40th birthday present for my son. His review was as follows:The Garmin Forerunner 10 is an entry level running watch but in my view it is a real top performer. It finds the satellites in seconds and is ready to go almost straight away.I have so far managed a range of runs in different locations and lengths ranging from a 5k park run to half marathon distances and it has not let me down yet the battery seems to have a good life and accurately records my distance and when connected to Garmin Connect I can see a fully detailed report on my running. The watch itself provides you with details such as distance, time, pace, calories and records achievements. The virtual pacer feature included enables you to push yourself to a goal and I set a new PB by a minute on my weekly Park Run using this feature.I received this product as a gift for my 40th birthday and am over the moon with it and I am in training for a marathon so it is perfect for my needs and for new runners and those who want an uncomplicated simple to use device at an affordable price.

Great GPS watch for the price
Very pleased with this watch so far. I have owned it for 2 months and it has been in use continually. It tells the time accurately and it tracks my runs with reasonable accuracy. I had read that it was slow to locate satellites but it has done this within 2 minutes every time I have used it for training.
