Professional system and rather easy to install after learning curve
This is a pro grade alarm system and what many of the name brand companies like ADT use for their systems. That said, it is not the typical DIY system but you can totally install it yourself if you have half a brain and watch a few youtube videos for help. For me it was very easy and straight forward to install then the programming made more sense when I watched a few videos. There is help out there all over the place. I used a Simplisafe before this and it was very simple to install but the quality was not near what the quality is on this system. Buy the door contacts that you actually drill into the casement and install however if you want totally hidden and nice looking contacts. The ones that come with this system are rather large and ugly if you ask me. I use this system on my wifi network and even without monitoring you can pay .99 at the app store on iOS and use the app to connect to your panel while in your house on your wifi network. I use it to arm/disarm the system from my bedside and it is the exact replica of the panel itself. I did purchase the separate horn/sounder as it is much louder but honestly you don't really need it. I have a larger house so I found it nice to have that closer to my bedroom. You cannot go wrong with this system and most of the bad reviews are because this is not the typical DIY system and there is a little bit of a learning curve but it was fairly easy for me. For instance there is a wire that you need to plug into the main panel and run to an outlet and most people struggle with that. I simply used my fish tape and put a very small hole behind the panel and actually came out right next to the plug itself down below and you cannot see the wire at all - simple and professional looking but many folks have a major issue doing stuff like that.

Great Item and seller was outstanding.
This is a great system. Purchased on Amazon and seller contacted me to inform me that items would be shipped in two shipments and confirmed they arrived. Seller offered to assist with any questions. Very easy to install. You do need a monitoring service to control this remote via Honeywell total connect. Total Connect has varying subscriptions. I do not get traffic and weather and was told that would be an adidtional $6 per month. Basic level does not include remote zwave and camera monitoring. With that siad, the system is solid. No problems connecting with window and door receivers. Recommend you purchase 5818 recessed door receivers for your doors. This way you will not see any receivers as this recess into door frame. The only reason I give it four stars instead of 5 is that you have to pay a subscription to monitoring remotely. Honeywell should offer this at no charge. Also, I have Honeywell touch screen thermostats that are not compatible and have to be controlled through a separate Honeywell app. With all this said and after my research, I believe it is the best system on the market. I purchased from Warrior Protection Services via Amazon and would recommend this seller.

Peace of mind and a great system to use when converting that old pre-wired home alarm to newer technology
Package was priced well and is about as good as you can get for a DIY alarm system. Don't expect to receive any support from Honeywell since they only provide tech support to dealers. If you have any issues, they'll direct you to one of their authorized alarm installers.Install was VERY easy and can look like a custom install if you take your time and do a wall drop. The package I received came with everything needed to get this thing setup. I recommend purchasing the 5800C2W if you plan to convert a wired home to use this along with a keypad (5828v or 5828) so that you can move the main Lynx Touch 7000 module away from your entry points. I also opted for the external siren kit (can be purchased from AlarmGrid) along with the $15 Self monitoring service. For $15 a month, I can access my home alarm and home automation devices remotely, arm/disarm, and receive email, text and app notifications whenever the alarm is triggered, armed/disarmed, power outage, or tampered with.I, like many others had 1 big issues with this device, and that was with the Z-Wave functionality on Schlage Camelot touchscreen locks. I kept having issues with all three of my Schlage locks timing out and nodes failing. This would result in the keypad locking up and not working with the code. I had to Exclude these and Include them along with reprogramming the entry code. After this occurred multiple times and after contacting Honeywell customer service (big disappointment), I decided to trouble shoot myself. Long story short, the ZWave antenna on this Lynx 7000 module has horrible reception for secured devices (ie: locks). They are very temperamental with distance and standard ZWave repeaters don't transmit the security information needed for these locks to work well. Once I moved the Lynx Touch 7000 from the corner of my home to the center, it began working and hasn't had any failed nodes since. Now that they're working, the only minor annoyance is the amount of time it takes for the lock to lock or unlock after selecting it from my phone or the Lynx Touch 7000 module (about 30 seconds on average).

Expensive monitoring required to see cams and remote control alarm off property
As a long time alarm tech, and Honeywell certified Fire-Lite, and silent night fire panel installer, this seemed like a good system for the new Ohana. Programmed and installed very easy, intuitive interface, sexy looking control panel. I liked the integrated security camera system. Never read the small print before purchase. You must subscribe to alarm-net for aboot 80 bucks a month to see cams off the property, and monitor remote alarm functions.
