My cat constantly pines for the outdoors, especially with spring approaching. She is great about coming back inside, and I do not mind her using the bathroom outside. She is not much of a hunter either, so the local bird population is safe. The problem was that I only have a sliding door to my back deck and no easy way to install a traditional cat door. I found this while shopping on Amazon and decided to give it a try. It fit my window perfectly. All I had to do was build a small step so she could reach it from inside and get down safely on the other side. She absolutely loves being able to come and go as she pleases. The insert itself feels very sturdy, and the door has a locking feature. I do not really use it, but if you have raccoons in your area, it would probably be helpful at night. As far as heat efficiency goes, I am sure it is not quite as insulating as my double pane windows since there is a thin flap in the middle, but I do not feel any drafts coming through. It seems to seal up really well.

It hasn’t been a dealbreaker for me, just something to know. For the price, it feels well made and renter-friendly since it doesn’t require drilling. If you have a sliding window leading to a patio or catio and you want a sturdy insert that seals up nicely, this one has been excellent.

I bought an almost identical item recently and it works wonders. You just open the window, place the device inside the frame, and close the window onto it. That's really about all there is to it. This one's just as easy. Your cat should have no problem using the flap, though he or she might need a little coaxing and demonstration. It's easy to close up the door so that the cat can't get out when you need that to be the case. The flap closes flush against the sides so rain and snow shouldn't get in, and I don't even feel the need to make any adjustments for temperature (though this will vary based on location and climate). It's a nice, solid way of letting your furballs get in and out at their leisure. Just PLEASE, if you must let your cat out, ensure that they're spayed or neutered. There are already too many homeless cats out there.

Was unable to use this in my windows. So can't say how it works. I am using it as a cat door between my door opening. Works for that. The quality and sturdiness seems great. Would recommend this product if it fits in your window.

I haven’t been able to install this cat door yet, but I got it in preparation for moving into a new house soon.
