A Practical Guide to Dragons (Practical Guides)

The only good thing a Kender has done.
While a more child-like view of them, understandable since a Kender "author", A Practical Guide to Dragons still gives a detailed and interesting read into the D&D world of dragons. While the 3.5 Draconomicon could give intricate details and stats to run a battle or an encounter this book tells it from the view of someone who lives in the world that these great beings are a part of. There were many times where I already knew the information about the different colors of dragon (I would sometimes put the book down to open the 3.5 Draconomicon to make sure, haha.), I retained that sense of wonder from reading about the habitats, likes, and attitudes. It is more in line for teen to preteen as the author holds onto that Kender outlook as written down in the book. There were times where I would be annoyed by it but I am a 25 year old man, so it wasn't quite meant for my age group, haha. Kenders also have a very...negative reaction in D&D circles, which I will admit colored my view. I will give them this one though and only this.Regardless of it, it's still a fantastic book for someone who loves dragons, D&D, and who wishes to inspire imagination in minds of all ages. A great book to get ones children interested in running or playing their own session. The other books, A Practical Guide to Dragon Magic and A Practical Guide to Dragon Riding, are also wonderful books on their own or together and I encourage you to get them as well.

Amazing book with beautiful artwork.
I read this book as a child, multiple multiple times. I absolutely HATE that people steal the art out of it and claim it as their own >:( Can’t say I blame them since the artwork is so amazing but still, really people? That’s how artists make money by having others buy THEIR work. Not yours. 😡

Beautiful dragon book; my son loves it
Great book that my 9-year-old dragon lover really likes, but ours had a bunch of very large marker writing inside. I know it was a used book, but we buy the higher ratings that are supposed to have only minimal issues. :(

Dragon goodness
This light-hearted fare is a quick but entertaining read containing basic information about the dragons of Krynn (the world that is the home of the DragonLance realm.) It is presented as a work created by Sindri Suncatcher, a Kender who may just be the Greatest Kender Wizard Who Ever Lived (according to him anyway!)The book is chock full of wonderful illustrations and diagrams and givew the reader a lot of information about the abilities and lifestyles of the ten major species of dragons that inhabit the world of Krynn. There is information about their habitat, social structure, combat styles and much more.To make the work more fun, Sindri gives us all of this information himself in the light-hearted, open-eyed style that is typical of any kender character. This makes the book one that is wonderful for those of all ages and it seems that it ends all to quickly.

My little boy loves this book
We rented this book at the library a few months ago and my 5 year old son couldn't stop talking about it. We ended up getting it for him for Christmas. I got a "used" book but it looked like new. Now, even though my 5 year old loves this book, he cannot read this book. It's much too complex and the script is difficult for a beginning reader. But he LOVES the pictures. I admit they are pretty interesting. This is not a book you can sit down and read in one sitting with a little kid. So I just let him pick a section at a time for me to read to him.

BEAUTIFUL PICTURES AND DESCRIPTIONS
Lovely book. Beautiful pictures, wonderful descriptions and an all-around striking book. I bought this for my daughter for the holidays and it arrived 14 days before the stated delivery date, which was a month before I needed it, which made it a stress-reliever as well. Truthfully, I can't say enough about this book. I was second-guessing myself because I've never bought a book sight-unseen, but I was really happy with the book and my daughter will love it.

Nice dragon book; no complaints
I bought this book without knowing it was based on dragon lore from the tabletop game, "Dungeons and Dragons," but found it fascinating as a dragon lover regardless. It has beautiful artwork and entries about different dragon species. Lovely little book.

Would recommend for any age.
Have totally enjoyed this series as have my grandchildren. The stories are witty and engaging and each has a lesson to be learned. Finding it is the trick. Also began a discussion about the myth or reality of dragons with the boys.

Missing a page!
This is a beautiful book that I highly recommend. But our was missing a page. There was a page ripped out! The book appeared to be new and was wrapped in plastic but when We flipped through we noticed a page ripped right out. Hopefully my son won’t notice…
