A book written in 19th century, it reflects upon the struggles and life of that time.India was under the rule of British back then, and Rudyard Kipling has done an amazing job in penning the emotions.It is classic tale which takes some time to read and get used to. But once you get a hang of it, it is a nice read.I would suggest, don't shy away from it...

Rudyard Kipling is a famous author known mainly for his book The Jungle Book. Little did I know, he has plenty of other fantastic books as well. Kim is a book completely unfamiliar to me. I had never heard its name before choosing to pick it up, seeing the name of Rudyard Kipling on the cover but in the end, I am so happy that I did. Kim is like Indian Harry potter to me. The book tells the journey of a young boy during British Rule in India. He not only begs on the streets of Lahore but also works as an errand boy for a horse trader and spy master. But there is more to his destiny than that. Soon he takes off on a quest to find a legendary river. The characterization of the book and writing style were so familiar to me, having read the jungle book but I was still amazed by Rudyard Kipling’s ability to create fantastic images in the reader’s mind. The prose is so beautiful and so is the storytelling. I don’t know if this book has been adapted into a movie yet but it definitely should. It is just that good.

Fantastic tale, eminently readable, engrossing narrative .. you can't put it down and the story flow never leaves your mind hen you do. .. that is how classics were written in the times by this great nobel prize winner .. start with one you will end up reading all .. fantastic colourful and you see the story in your mind .👌👌

Rudyard Kipling's "Kim", which many consider to be his greatest novel ever, is an intricate depiction of colonial India in the 19th century. The eponymous Kim is an Anglo-Indian boy, roving about the streets of British India in an Aladdin-esque manner, when a wizened old lama from Tibet captures his attention, and the unlikely pair undertake a quest to find the "River of the Arrow". His various adventures with the lama on the Grand Trunk Road and participation as a spy for the Indian Secret Service form the story.A good story, with ample visual descriptions, and not-too-hard English, although it has its share of Thou, Art, Thee and Prithee. As a reader in the 21st century, you may be a tad put off by the blatant racism, but that is to be expected of a book nearly 120 years old at the time of writing this. As an Indian, I found it particularly grating to read disparaging descriptions of the Indian community by using the n-word in multiple places where the usage was not quite warranted. The poor knowledge of the colonizer describing the vibrant culture of India is grotesque in places ("Personally, he believed in Brahmins, though, like all natives, he was acutely aware of their cunning and their greed").This book can be read by both casual readers and literary snobs alike. Ideal as a travel book.

Stupid question from you: what do you think I would use a book for other than to read it?The item was satisfactory, clear type and appears well bound. Good packaging ensured it came unscathed.

No doubt the book is considered in top100 books to be ever written. Was engrossed in the book...best was to see how India was in late 1890s through the journey of Kim and his monk. Huree Babu was amazing in the book
