Small and Perfect.
Classic little utility knife ...(Pic left to right : Victorinox ALOX Classic 58mm, Opinel Carbbon No.4, Opinel No.5 Stainless Steel No.5 and a Regular sized Clipper lighter.)Came super sharp from the Factory.Much is made of the Carbon needing care as the blade is sensetive even to finger touch causing rust (Patina) quickly - this is overplayed imo. This is a superior version over Stainless for my needs.Holding a sharper edge longer is especially useful if your wanting to use it on woods etcHowever, I would say if you are just wanting to cut fruit or open a letter with your knife - Stainless could be the way to go for you - they are also GREAT knives. The Carbon Care/ Maitenance is very minimal.1 You can just deliberately Patina the Blade (See YT vids on how to do it - it's easy peasy.)2 Rinse and Wipe the blade after uses and apply either vegetable oil (the Opinel website recommended) with a cotton swab, I use Olive oil as it's what I have on hand at Mo' - same results. This takes seconds to do.Even if you don't want to do this the blade will just patina naurally and age nicely anyway - remember this is utility and any age wear/looks are really just knife character. As long as you keep it sharp, Opinels can perform admirably well for years.Ergonamically the handle is comfortable and functional -I can get 3 fingers on the handle with my little finger supporting at the rear of the knife for support/control.(I have Medium Adult sized hands.)It's a Classic design in an easy, discreet, carry size. The trick as ever is buy the knife that suits your needs, anybody who gives this knife a bum review didn't do this and that is their error, not the knifes.Opinels have changed little in 125 years and nor will they in the next 125, that's really cool imo - I love that sort of Tradition and at the price they are a bargain as well.Viva Opinel and Viva the No.4Thank you!

Good knife but high price
This is a very small knife, the size of your thumb. Very sharp, but not sure of the high price tag for something that is almost a keyring.

Size 4 but great knives.
Opinel make great knives , ive always had one since my younger days .. I bought this as present for my dad , he wants a smaller size as has a number 9 which is not great in the pocket , obviously this does not lock like the others but is a great allround traditional small pocket knife ... my only gripe is you receive a no.4 not 5 , this is obviously a mistake in the listing. It arrived promptly and I did complain about the size error , amazon were great about it and sent out a replacement only it was another No.4 which is why I give 4 star not 5 stars . Oh well still a great priced pocket knife , so long as you know what your receiving.

Buy/
The No4 is a very small knife the same size as a Wrcase Peanut its ideal for light general tasks im using mine for marking wood and sharpening pencils yes it has a very thin blade but thats the whole point . ideal for a wee edc or to keep in a pencil case.

A good size but not practical or durable
The knife is a bit smaller than I had invisaged but that is my fault not the knife. It is sharp out the box and has a nice feel to it even if it does feel a bit light and not that robust. The main issue is the steel for the blade, over time it has become slightly rusted and tarnished despite oiling and cleaning and the overall blade is too flexible to be useful. I purchased it for picnics but it is too rusty to want to put anywhere near my food these days!Still used to open boxes and small enough to keep in my pen pot on my desk. For the price the knife is of a fair quality but from Opinel I was hoping that it would last a bit better. Still sharp but of limited use due to the size and the quality

This is tiny
If you want a sturdy knife I would suggest buying a different one, I was disappointed when this was delivered, it's tiny and the blade wasn't very thick, I sent it back.

Great
You need a non locking knife? This is nearly perfect.Sharp carbon blade, not stainless, so will patina. Makes no difference to internal structure of blade!I have (now) two of these knives. My first Opinel was a locking No6.This one however is a non locking No4 and is perfect for the pocket!Brilliant!
