CME 8" 3-Jaw Self-Centering (Scroll) Lathe Chuck with L00 Long Taper Backing Plate, Two-Piece Reversible Jaws

My chuck arrived today and after checking it out I came in to write a review. Well packed, nothing damaged or missing, and the high quality was a pleasant surprise. After degreasing I mounted the L00 type adaptor plate on my Standard Modern lathe and prepared to take a light truing cut before mounting the chuck. The runout was so slight (under .0005") that I had to check to be sure the dial indicator was working. Nothing to improve on by taking a cut so I mounted the chuck. It fit perfectly, ran smooth, and the jaws are well machined. Chucking up a new 1" drill bit and checking with the indicator again showed near zero runout. This chuck is the most true of any I have used. I'm thrilled and the price was a fraction of what the big name places charge for one. I'll be ordering from CME again. Steve

Well, I've been using high quality (expensive) machining equipment for 30 years, and wasn't expecting much from this import...but It was tempting to try it for my home shop. I bought it, shipping was fast, and got it mounted on my Clausing lathe. I have to admit, I am very pleasantly surprised...so far so good. I've only used it for a few hours so far, but it's really nice for the money. Measured run out after mounting...it's within .0015" Compared to other " better" brands...costing 3X's the price, very satisfied so far....not sure about how well it'll hold up, but off to a really good start.

This guy sells this chuck all over the internet but doesnt have the correct adapter plate. He'll ship you a 10" one and expect you to machine it yourself. He's been out of stock on the adapter plate since 2017. What a jackass

I do a lot of work on thin walled parts, and this works awesome.Update: this thing is beautiful. I use it almost exclusively now. It's right on the numbers every single time, almost like it more than my 4 jaw chuck. It holds tight, but don't mark the surface.
