This give you clear suggestions and ideas on how to teach phonics in accordance with the Primary National Strategy and the Rose Review. If you are a Jolly Phonics or Letters and Sounds Reception teacher like myself, then you are in for a treat with lots of ideas and lesson tips. There are thinking points and examples of books for relevant stories and rhymes. Personally I would have liked a CD of resources to use as well, but it is still excellent value. The book helps you to teach phonological awareness and guides you through a systematic, synthetic approach to learning about literacy. It links speaking and listening, reading and writing and shows you how to organise effective phonics teaching using a daily phonics lesson example and some assessment sheets.

This is a really useful, practical book which is ideal for trainee teachers and for teachers who find themselves working in KS1 for the first time.
