Betty Crocker's New Chinese Cookbook: Recipes by Leeann Chin

Great basics for cooking Chinese... so far, I am very pleased!! There was a restaurant that me and my family would always go to for chines and they charged an arm and a leg. We went there for years... I grew up there and would go still today as an adult. Unfortunately... they seem to be loosing steam for there own product and the quality is going down. Fortunately for me, as a result of this book, I found out (just as their waiter said) sweet and sour sauce is easy to make! Now, their sweet and sour sauce seemed to be one of a kind... so good and it was brown (not very common). This cookbook has proven to me, that I no longer have to pray that they'll get it together. :) Although the sweet and sour sauce wasn't sweet enough, the recipe gave the foundation, and all I had to do was add sugar and wallah! Perfect.

This cookbook arrived quickly and exactly as described. The recipes are easy to follow and mostly what I would eat and order in a restaurant.

My first Chinese cookbook for my first foray into Chinese cooking. The recipes here are simple and classic, if rather plain. I like that the ingredients are all easy to find in my area, and that the recipes are very quick! Important for me as a working person who still likes to come home and cook something interesting for dinner. I don't like recipes with ingredient lists that are a foot long. These recipes are short and easy to follow, although a bit cryptic, which led me to make a mistake in one recipe. But I was able to start over on the mistake and the recipe came out well. I would have liked more photos - one per dish would be ideal. I recommend this for the beginning Chinese cook, but not for the beginning cook.

I am from Minneapolis, and I once met Leeann Chin and have an autographed copy. I bought this one for my son and his wife. This and her former book, which may be out of print, make Chinese cooking accessible to even novices. Her instructions are absolutely straightforward. Even when the steps are complicated, she breaks things down in clear instructions that allow everyone to succeed. The recipes offer ingredients that are not hard to find, and the processes are intuitive and logical. But most of all, they are delicious! She makes all cooks look good! I have never cooked one dish from this book that didn't get rave reviews from my guests and family. The flavors are clear and clean. It is a star in my library of cookbooks, and many of these dishes are staples of my kitchen.

I purchased this 'like new condition' cook book to replace a very tattered and worn copy of this book I have had since it was initially published. The recipes are great and none are too complicated. I have impressed my family and friends with meals from this cookbook for years.

I have been using Better Crocker's Chinese Cookbook for years. Our family certainly has many favorites from that edition. In fact, how I came to find out about Betty Crocker's New Chinese Cookbook is that I was trying to order copies of the original cookbook to give to my now adult children.I not only ordered the new book for them but for me, as well. The new book includes some of our past favorites, but plenty of new exiting dishes, as well.

I'm Italian and I like to cook Chinese. It was intimidating at first, but there's a rhythm to Chinese cooking, once I collected all my ingredients. Of course, I have several Chinese cook books, highly rated, and one written almost in Mandarin. I tried recipes from several cook books, but the one I use the most is Betty Crocker's New Chinese Cookbook. At first I was turned off by the title. What does Betty Crocker know about Chinese cooking? But Leeann Chin wrote this book, not Betty Crocker. And the author does a great job. Hardcover, big pages and great photos of the food.

Great cooking book, I only gave it 4 stas because of the lack of pictures, the directions in some recipes are made for you to get a lot of dirty dishes, but i don't always follow then exactly how they say, but the results are sooo good, my husband loves everything I have made so far

Great cookbook. Love the Lemon Chicken recipe especially.
