Good value and high speed.
Capacity reviewed; 1TB. This is only the second QLC (quad level cell) NVMe PCIe M.2 to come to the consumer market. It comes from a joint development project between Intel and Micron. It is superior to the Intel 660p, which uses the same QLC memory, because is has 1GB of RAM per TB of storage. The Intel version only has 256MB regardless of storage size. This means that it remains responsive with heavier workloads than the Intel version. On my own tests it happily managed 1,800MB/s Read/Write speeds on sequential loads. This is more than enough for use as a primary drive in my laptop. The only reported downside of this SSD is that as it fills up to capacity it will slow down. This can be mitigated by leaving unused space for something called 'over provisioning'. This basically leaves a portion of the SSD empty to be used to improve the longevity of the drive and maintain high performance. I formatted the drive to 800GB capacity leaving ~130GB for over provisioning. This may seem like a waste to some but I always over provision about 10-20% of the space on all my SSDs. This is because I want them to last a long time and not slow down. My laptop boots up in seconds, logs in and has all applications running in no time at all. The SSD has ample capacity for all my applications, documents and music. It was easy to install but required reinstalling Windows and all software from scratch because I couldn't clone the old drive (no way to connect it up). All in all a good value consumer SSD and a worthy upgrade to modern laptops that often only have 128GB SSDs installed.

The best value for money NVMe SSD
I've just replaced a 32GB Optane memory module with the Crucial P1 500GB SSD on a Alienware Aurora R7 and straight away Windows 10 boots consistently faster. Optane memory was a bit hit and miss, sometimes the OS would boot fast and sometimes it was HDD slow. At first I cloned my HDD to the SSD but that didn't work very well, the OS kept crashing and then refused to boot at all. I did a clean install of Windows 10 and I worked perfectly. I haven't bothered benchmarking the SSD, what matters is real world performance and as far as I can see it's super fast. I did consider the Samsung EVO 970 but at the time of purchase it was significantly more expensive. On paper it appears to be faster but from what I understand the higher read/write speed would only make a difference if you were moving very large files, not something the average user would do, maybe useful if you're video editing. The Crucial Storage Executive software is very good. There is no reason to put up with the OS on a HDD when SSDs are this cheap. I would highly recommend this SSD.

stunning leap in storage retrieval speed
Excellent product, maybe not the fastest on the web but still pretty impressive and £/megabyte good value. Runs at 38c in idle and goes up to 50c under load so if you are moving a lot of data around [video encoding/rendering] its a good idea to fit a heatsink ----------------------------------------------------------------------- CrystalDiskMark 6.0.2 x64 (C) 2007-2018 hiyohiyo ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * MB/s = 1,000,000 bytes/s [SATA/600 = 600,000,000 bytes/s] * KB = 1000 bytes, KiB = 1024 bytes Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1949.443 MB/s Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1631.422 MB/s Random Read 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 671.243 MB/s [ 163877.7 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 245.184 MB/s [ 59859.4 IOPS] Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 457.863 MB/s [ 111783.0 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 137.360 MB/s [ 33535.2 IOPS] Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 56.301 MB/s [ 13745.4 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 99.307 MB/s [ 24244.9 IOPS] Test : 1024 MiB [G: 3.9% (36.3/931.5 GiB)] (x5) [Interval=5 sec] Date : 2019/07/16 22:22:43 OS : Windows 10 Professional [10.0 Build 17134] (x64)

It's a 1tb m.2
It's a 1tb m.2. Easier to install than a SSD and faster than a HDD. Can't really compare speeds with an SSD. Better off watching a youtube video.

Great budged NVMe drive
Probably the cheapest NVMe drive out there at the moment and it does what it says on the tin. The speeds obviously won't match those of the higher-end NVMe drives, but nor does the price. Best not to be used to move large files (30GB+) in one go as the speed does drop quite significantly. I use this as my boot OS drive and it is perfect for that - loading Windows 10 in around 15 seconds from cold.

Over a year old now and it's still running strong!
Updating my review now as I was so impressed with the first two purchases, I decided to purchase it again, for the third time! I simply do not understand how some people are having problems with their P1. My drives have been performing very well since I've got them. Just make sure you guys apply a heatsink on the NANDs to avoid any sustained read or write bottlenecks! All SSDs suffer from that, not just this! ====Old Review==== This drive is superb in both booting Windows and launching applications and video games. It's only a mere QLC SSD, although its performance is out of this world, when compared against HDD and SSHDs. I used to own a SATA III SSD before replacing them with this, and the difference is quite noticeable under my usage of the new drives. The read and write speeds are too quick, even for my internet speed. The health, under my usage, is also still on 100%. It's going to be lasting me a long while, these drives. With a heatsink that comes with my motherboard, temperatures on this never shot above 55°C, even under heavy loads. Performance is unknown on my end without the use of heatsinks. Would recommend the Crucial P1 1TB for sure!

The product I received did not work as intended. The SSD shows up in BIOS but not on the OS (not visible on Disk Management or Storage Spaces). Did nearly every possible fix on the internet, no luck. I contacted the Crucial support staff. The technical team is based in the United States, so replies were taking a day each. However, they were considerate and helpful. After verifying that the issue was with the SSD and not the motherboard, they directed me to a service center, where I got it replaced within half an hour. The replacement is working as intended. Great performance. All said and done, the original defective piece I received was perhaps a one-off, and the replacement lives up to expectations, so I would recommend this product.

Upgraded my MacBook Air with this SSD. No noticeable change in speed but no need to worry about storage. Install was very easy and I haven't experienced any issues.
