Cracking G-Shock does it again... now with an app
I only received the watch today so this is an initial review.I already have a few G-Shock watches including a GW-M5610-1ER that is very similar to this one but with a positive display. I also have a couple of analogue G-Shock watches that connect to the G-Shock app.I found the app quite useful on the analogue time pieces of differing function depending on the time piece connected but for setting timers and alarm it worked great. This got me pondering purchasing this watch, this time with a negative display compared to my GW-M5610-1ER. I have experience of negative displays from Casio before that were not as readable as the positive sister watches, this is also true on this occasion, my GW-M5610-1ER is far more readable at different angles than this but this one is far better than some other negative displays and it looks fantastic. OK I may end up using the light a bit more but for me it was definitely worth a try and I'm pleased I did. Ultimately I can read it easily in reasonable light without the back light.Construction wise it looks almost identical to my GW-M5610-1ER and as such is light and the band is super comfortable. Operation is pretty similar as well. If the construction is as good (and it sure looks to be) it should be near indestructible in normal use.The back light has a lovely fade in-fade out compared to the on-off of the GW-M5610-1ER and looks a lot better for it in my opinion. It also displays the time in stop watch and count down modes in the small rectangle in the top right corner where the GW-M5610-1ER does not, This is a big plus for me.Using the connected app is a breeze to set up and use where it can sync to an internet time server, set the alarm(s) count down and show location when you sync with the app. World time has 5 presets but I think you can change these in the app, it also has some reminder functions that requires the app. Using the back light you get a red blip if you have reminders set as well.Looks wise the blue reflective border around the screen adds some colour and class, I did consider the all black version but that was much more expensive for what is the same watch and I'm pleased I went for this one, that little bit of colour really works well.Initial conclusion? Is it better than the GW-M5610-1ER, not really it's just different, the positive display and on screen battery charge level have this beat for readability (battery level can be read from the app) but from an aesthetic view and the useful app make it an even contest. Both are great G-Shock digital watches.Note this is not a smart watch for showing message notifications, Facebook or informing you what someone has had for lunch. Its a time piece. And a good one.I will add an update to this review if needed.

An excellent timepiece
Does exactly what you expect it to and does it well. Very well made, this G-Shock is easy to read and just as easy to navigate. With Bluetooth, radio control, numerous alarms, timer, stopwatch and completely waterproof. Not too large on the wrist and very comfortable to wear. Highly recommended.

Good beater work watch
Ideal watch for work, could perhaps do with a longer strap but then again I have a bigger wrist. Several alarms are a handy function.. the negative display in honesty I'd rather have a positive

If your looking for something super legible go for the positive display
It's going to be mostly about the negative display, if your looking for something super legible go for the positive display, that out the way if your OK with negative displays and knowing what there like this one has the auto raise soft fade light, which you can program on the app to light up the face of the watch when you raise your hand for either two seconds or four. For me that's a big thing when I'm working at night.I won't bang on about all the features and the accompanying app, other than you can swap the date readout around to display the day first and the month second, that's brilliant. It is a comfortable light feeling watch, I own a couple of other squires and they were never that comfortable for me, but this G-S has addressed that, the band fits me much better. For the price features and look I'm not complaining, that blue highlight surround on the face looks super smart, it's quite subtle and changes color from blue to green. Smart looking watch.Disclaimer, "I paid for this myself", either during a lightning deal or full price

UK date format, solar and atomic time. Perfect.
The perfect G Shock. Has UK date format!!! Wahoo!! Casio, you've got no idea how good this is. Please, please continue to offer this on your watches!Solar powered, shock resistant, water resistant to 200m, it has 4 alarms, you can snooze an alarm, have an hourly chime... You've got a stopwatch and a countdown timer. You've got a backlight which can stay on up to 4 seconds. If you want, you can turn on the auto backlight which has motion detection, so when you move your wrist towards you, it lights up your watch - super useful at night. The watch has atomic timekeeping which is called multiband 6. It works in various places across the world and uses radio signals to get the accurate time down to the second - it connects every night to get it, or you can manually start the process by holding the bottom right button in.There's a Casio G Shock app which has a bunch more features, and you can even find your phone if it's lost nearby and connected to Bluetooth. This is a bit of a gimmick... not worth knocking off stars but it's not as great as you'd like. All in all, it's a solar powered watch with excellent functionality. UK date format makes this a real winner.

Bought from Amazon Warehouse
The watch was fine. It was a G Shock as advertised. However I believe it had been returned after someone attempted an ali-express mod. Everything worked, Bluetooth etc. But the case and screws had signs of play and lower left connect button was sloppy to say the least. Packaging was bad, all there, just thrown in. Still awaiting a refund..... apparently process centre is busy. Perhaps explains why I received a stripped and reassembled watch? Also didn't charge above 3 bars after several days in indirect sunlight, bought the same model from an AD, came with 3 bars and charged straight to 5 bars in several hours indirect sunlight. Be careful of trying to save a couple of quid on here. I've tried, I won't in future.
