Image of packaging says 280LB working load limit, description says 500LB, which is it?

The Nite Ize CamJam XT Aluminum Rope Tightener comes in two sizes. The size 1/16" to 3/16" can hold up to 280lbs, while the 1/8" to 3/8" can hold up to 500lbs.

Why does it say this; "when you are done using the camjam xt rope tightener, simply rotate the cam lock lever and pull your rope or cord upward"

Pulling upwards releases, the cam, pulling down locks the rope in the cam

Camjam xt large & rothco 3/8" (9mm) utility rope - would cam teeth be able to bite well the rope? if not, which brand of 9mm rope would you recommend?

I would think so. I use 3/8 inch rope and holds well. Rothco is a good brand so I think you would be good with that combo. Hope this helps.

what rope do you recommend to use with this Camjam?

I disagree with using poly braid - especially the hollow braid. It's been my experience that they slip because the cam can't get a good bite in the plastic. I've used cotton rope but now use paracord from 550 to 850 with great results.
