The Nutcracker: An Enchanting Pop-Up Adaptation

In preparations for taking my littles (4 & 6) to their first Nutcracker performance and ballet of any kind, I wanted to at least give them the idea of the story line first. I stumbled across this and added it to our nightly bedtime reading books. They loved how detailed the pop-ups were and how almost every page had an interactive extra tab to make the figures come to life. The story itself is a bit odd by today's standards but they used their imaginations and got into it. By the time the ballet came, they were pointing out characters they saw on stage and telling me the story. It was a great experience and therefore this book did it's job masterfully! I look forward to this being an annual tradition. One happy dad :)

Great pictures and pop-up. My girls <4 loved it. The story is a bit complex and long for their patience though, so I find myself making it up and not reading it. Wish they streamlined verbiage and simplified vocabulary a bit more..

I’m always on the lookout for creative and beautiful Pop Up books. I’ve not purchased from this author/artist before but was pleased with this book. The Pop Ups aren’t as complicated as Sabuda and/or Reinhart but I know the girls will find this to be a treasure in their Pop Up book collection

I really loved this beautiful book, although, I’m giving one less star, because When we got it, one of the pop ups did not work. It looks like it was bent the wrong direction.

Sent this as a Christmas gift to a 6 year-old girl. Her mother navigated the pages for her at this time, fearing she might pull too hard. They both absolutely loved it. If I weren't 87, I'd want one myself. Fabulous gift!

This is such an INCREDIBLE book, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL............the details were amazing, beyond my expectations. Looking thru this wonderful book makes my day.

Read these wonderful pop up books to your kids or grandkids instead of handing them a cell phone to entertain themselves. They are much better for their health!

This is an enchanting book for kids and adults alike, simple pop-ups but with delightful illustration, surely a must for festive reading.It was obviously damaged at the warehouse, which was not noted (I didn't purchase it through Amazon overstock) the outer packaging was unharmed, but there was a large gouge in the front, and I suspect there was a piece missing from a page, as there was marks on a page that didn't have anything attached to them. But I suppose that's what you get "seconds" if you buy from Amazon rather than pay the £22 Fortnum and Mason's were asking for the book.

This is an enchanting pop up book, the pop ups are really creative, and it's a hard back sturdy book.I bought a couple for children ages 2 and up.

Beautiful book, brought on amazon warehouse so was worried about condition but apart from a little dent on spine its brilliant. Pop up beautiful illustrations can't wait to read at Christmas.

Absolutely beautiful book - pictures pop it and little flaps to open. Story is quite long - but pictures keep even the littlest amused !
