Good WC Paper - Very Different and Cool
This is a neat journal. I really like the deckled edges. I have not tried using any resistance gum on it yet to test the cotton fiber element but it feels like cotton without any wood pulp. It has a neat feature in having thin wax paper sheets in between each sheet so you can close the journal and pack it away if your page is still damp doing plein air. Its so absorbent if you are careful you wont need the resistance media anyway. It spreads the paint in a different but kind of cool way wet in wet. There is not the kind of sizing you would normally have with Arches or other high end paper and this may be why the surface looks matte flat when the paint dries but not in a cheap way. It's very different from other papers. I use a Daniel Smith travel set on it and honestly the end result is pretty cool. Be aware the pages are not flat really at all and why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. They are wavy and buckled like handmade paper. When you get it wet - it buckles more. It's surprisingly whiter than I expected for all of the natural fibers. If you are an avid watercolor painter, I encourage buying this to expand your experience with a different surface. I'm having a lot of fun with it as a travel journal. There's no bleed through so I am painting on both sides of the pages. I will totally buy this again.

Paper Great, Binding Poor
This 100% cotton rag paper with deckled edges is great—holds a lot of water with minimal warping. I liked that I could remove pages if I wanted and love the protective vellum sheets between pages. BUT, the wire binding fell to pieces when the book was half full and I ended up removing all the pages. Might as well just buy the paper.

High quality, best paper for bright, rich color! s!
This is beautiful paper! Takes color beautifully with just the right absorption, sizing, and beautiful handmade texture. Equally as (and sometimes more) satisfying to work on as Arches; I find it to be the best paper to use if you really want bright, rich colors in floral and landscape painting to stand out fully, because, despite the description given of "ivory" color, this is actually a BRIGHT WHITE paper, definately whiter than even the "bright white" version of Arches Cold Pressed I usually use! Not sure why other reviewers have problems with the covers falling off, I find the spiral binding to be strong, and it's a simple matter to squeeze the binding rings tighter together if for some reason a cover is forcefully "yanked" and the rings bent open the during frequent or rough handling. Love the natural deckled edges, and the bound edge is not actually perforated for removal, but rather is meant to be torn on a crease that's molded into the paper to create the final deckled side when removing the page, which is so great! Highly recommend this product!

a good sketch book
This sketch book has a lot to commend itself to watercolor artist. The pages are large enough to produce a decent painting, the paper is 100% cotton and takes well to multiple washes, you are able to paint on both sides of each sheet, without the paper warping, it has tracing paper between each sheet to protect one painting from the next. Also an artist can sketch a scene and use the tracing paper laid over the sketch to develop a value study prior to laying down any washes. The sheets a perforated to easily detach the paintings from the sketch book. Now the down side; the paper is so soft you are unable to use masking fluid or to tape off any areas where you want to preserve the white of the paper because when you attempt to remove the fluid or tape, it rips off the paper. The covers becomes easily detached from the sketch book and are a pain to re-attach. The sketch book is also expensive.

Beautiful, rustic, cotton
Just my perfect paper. I love this paper. The deckled edges and perforated sheets are amazing. This sketchbook just looks elegant. I love taking it out people always stare. Everything, simple and complex, looks great on this paper. My Daniel Smith colors pop like nothing else. You can see the granulation and bursts of color. The only slight negative is I do end up with a bit of splotchiness, Like if you did a light wash, you could never get it very even. So if you’re used to like- arches that’s just a lot smoother you may need to get used to this. I don’t like Arches personally, this is much more my style. Stays wet for ages.Anyway- give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

Unique, High-Quality Paper
This handmade paper has amazing texture and is very thick, which allows it to accept a lot of water without buckling. It's more cloth-like than other cotton papers like Arches and Fabriano, so you can achieve unique results. I love that it has thin, plastic-like sheets between each page to protect your artwork. Even though it is more expensive than other watercolor journals, it is worth the price.

Nice product
I love the deckle edge of the paper, it takes paint well and looks good. The wire binding got a bit tangled up and the cover sheets seemed useful at first and then just got in the way.

Artist daughter approves
I bought these for my artist daughter because she has been using one she bought herself and loves it. She said they are difficult to find. I'm happy to have found these. She said a bunch of stuff about the paper and how good it is and to tell you the truth I didn't really listen to WHY this pad is awesome. LOL But she says it is, so I'm sure it is because she uses quality materials. If I remember I will update after Christmas with more specifics.
