MLCS 9072 Safety Motor Power Switch

I ordered two of these switches and both arrived fast and packaged well from retailer. I had planned on using them on a old Delta band saw I have (it only had a lame toggle) and another on a 1950 Craftsman Planner. The band saw is 110 and the planner 220, so I needed a switch that could do both...these could. The price was very reasonable and I thought I would try it. One of the switches was missing one screw for the electrical but that wasn't a problem I just used that one on my 110 so I didn't need it. So far very happy with the Band saw switch much safer and at knee height in case I get into trouble and need to hit it. I will mount the planner one the same height and will update this post as to my success or failure with that one. But as of right now I would reccomend these switches to anyone who wants a safer switch that is well made and seems like it will last a lifetime.

I was a little disappointed when I opened this box, saw and then picked up this switch. It seems a little flimsy and in checking the function of the stop paddle, it seemed to not operate smoothly. I have not mounted or wired this switch up- it's getting returned. I have a similar style switch that I ordered through Sears for my table saw. For the extra $10-15, I think that switch is a better option. The MLCS case is all plastic whereas the one from Sears has a steel plate on the back. It should hold up longer and make mounting easier. For a switch that is going to get turned off by bumping with my thigh, I have doubts as to how long the plastic case would last. The Switch is easy to install - had my table saw's switch go belly-up on me - (Switch Was Only 35 Years Old) - mounted this switch on the front leg with a few screws - (Supplied) - cut the cord wired it in -(Has Cord Support Nuts)- and works great. I like this switch because it disconnects both hot & neutral wires - has grounding / bonding lug inside the plastic box. The stop button is about four inches diameter which, will make it easy to push. Would recommend for anyone using fixed based machinery. Switch is rated for 110 volt and 240 volt Single Phase. Well worth the price.

I received this switch in the mail about 3 weeks ago. After looking at the product, I am very disapointed in it. The switch mechanism did not work smoothly, if it worked at all. It did not work most of the time. When the stop psddle was pushed repeatedly, it would not operated the switch. Instead of returning this product, I decided to take it apart and find out why it did not work. I discovered that there were mis-matches in molding process which caused it to hang up and not trip the switch smoothly. I would not be comfortable using this product as a reliable saftey switch on a table saw.

I installed this on a router table. I can now stop the router with a knee bump. I actually prefer the switch on my power saw which also protects the start switch better from accidental starts. Wiring it was troublesome. I would have preferred a little more room in the box for the connections.

I purchased this switch with a paddle for safety and rated for 220v to replace a non-paddle switch on my table saw. The box looks big enough to hold the wires but the switch took up alot of room and it was tough to get the thicker gauge 220v wires stuffed in not to mention I had to drill out the wire clamps to fit. After all the work to get it wired and mounted it stopped working after a few uses of the saw. At first I thought it was the plug or the motor but after some trial and error it turned out to be the switch.

Agree with all previous comments (e.g. flimsy stop button etc). My main concern is that it is not a magnetic switch which means it's not really safe for the router table.

I like this switch. I had a broken power switch on my table saw, and this is much more safe than the tiny thing that was on there.
