Lost Las Vegas

Recommend. Well done.
So many books on cities, towns, destinations. Las Vegas has a multitude of such books. I chose this one by reviews and just plain guessing. Glad I ordered. Very well done. Organized by each decade starting in the 50's and on into the 2010's. Within each decade, hotels/attractions listed alphabetically. Each property boldly indicates the year of the fates of each. Consequently, most closed and/or demolished in ensuing years. Architecture, so cool over the 50 years and almost all gone now. So glad I made it a point to visit as many of the older casinos and lounges in the 70's and 80's! Sorry to say but if you've only visited the city in the last 10 or so years you really missed it. The ultra cool years are long gone. Las Vegas now has nothing worth viewing in my opinion. Sad.

Terrific selection of photos
The photos span many years and it's great seeing some old (b&w) photos. There are also several old graphic items, such as brochures and posters. Another appealing aspect is the multiple interesting write-ups about many of the hotels.

Old LasVegas, Gone But Not Forgotten
Great book. It relives the Vegas that was (the one that I first remember) and the Vegas that is now. Somehow, I just think that it was better back then but, that's just my opinion. It's a great pictorial for the visitors to see just what it was like in the past and how the town has developed into what it is today. The vintage photos (the hotels and buildings, the people, the clothes, the cars) are really great to see. Anyone interested in seeing parts of an age that will never be again will enjoy this book.

Excellent Book!
I started going to Vegas in the mid 80's and fell in love with the beautiful city that was then. Casinos built in classy Mid-Century architectural style run by East coast wiseguys, inexpensive great food, and perfect weather. Sadly it's all just a memory now as the town has turned into a giant amusement park for hustlers and drug addicts. But this book will bring back the glorious memories of what once was, well done.

A great book about Vegas!
This is a fantastic book. The way it's organized makes it easy to browse though and read a bit at a time. You can pick out the properties you have interest in and just read about those, or make your way through the whole book. Presented in a very easy to read style.

Interesting
Interesting book. After a holiday in Vegas last month I was interested in finding out more about it's history. This book is great. Nice old pics and a short history of places that are no longer there.
