Riveting
Fabulous book. The huge swath of history covered, and the way he segues between seemingly disconnected periods/areas/empires/etc. is so fun and exciting. I found myself highlighting almost every page!

Silk Roads ... one of the most important reads for now.
Peter Frankopan has been called a "rock star of history" and it's well-deserved. I read this book when it was first published in 2015 and have been recommending it ever since. I've given it as gifts and have bought a children's version. Why? Frankopan connects the world for the reader in a very smart way. Earlier I read one review that said the problem with the book is that it doesn't discuss the Silk Road at all. No, it's about - plural - roads.. The Silk Roads: A New History of the World." Most of the world has been left out of history and this author is weaving it in via new roads. Do read it. It's a necessary book for today.

The Rest of World History
The history of the world according to schooling in the United States, could basically be summed up as, “Nothing happened for a long time, and then suddenly Europe controlled the whole world,” (if you’re lucky enough to even learn about anything beyond US History). This book provides a great introduction to the rest of history that schools leave out of the curriculum, centered appropriately around the true center of the world.

hey! This is a children's book.
Good book but is not just an illustrated version of the original. Remember to read every bit of the page about the book because I did not see that it was kid's book until the book arrived to my door. I believe it ought to be more obvious. Dang! I made a mistake.

Civilization, not just Western Civilization
Fascinating review of world civilization which antedated our common view of Greco-Roman origins.

Beautiful illustrations
This is a beautiful book, for children but a good survey for adults because of its breadth of history.

Not an illustrated edition of the full "The Silk Roads" book
I loved the audible version of "The Silk Roads." I expected this to be the full text of the book with maps or other serious illustrations. Unfortunately, this book is like a Children's version of "The Silk Road" with greatly summarized text and mostly cartoon illustrations. Well written and accessible, but the description is very misleading.
