moonster A5 Journal Refill Blank Paper – Inserts for Leather Journal

As a journaler, I'm always searching for paper that doesn't just hold my words, but is part of my reflection experience. This paper has been that for the last 5 months of my writing. Texture: the paper has texture to it that is pleasing, yet smooth enough to not interfere with writing on it. Thickness: it's thick! And wonderful! I like the smooth outside edge - many thick journaling papers will have rough edges for an artisan effect - this doesn't and I can easily page to the next fresh sheet. Different inks: I've used many different inks - ball point, gel, sharpie, and my favorite fountain pen and they have all taken well to the paper without bleeding. I can't remark about pencil - as I lefty, I abandoned pencil years ago. Color: creamy - but most lighter color inks show up. Binding: the sewn binding is durable - I cart my journal around, leave it upside down splayed open, close it with a pen in it, (everything we learned not to do to a book) and I've only had one stitch that came undone on one section. Smell: I know that this may be strange to some but there's a bibliophile out there who may appreciate that I've mentioned it. While the color of the paper is a bit antiqued, it has a mild, almost imperceptible, paper scent without any trace of chemical. Simply, my search for paper is done. I'll continue buying this paper for as long as I can.

I purchased this because I prefer to write in lined notebooks since I cannot write straight to save my life. This was one of the few available in the size that I needed because I have a Crimson Chain book cover which is interchangeable, but they only had unlined and I couldn't find a lined one in regular stores. I was not ready for how amazing this paper feels! That may sound silly, but the texture is divine. I know this is because it is the eco-friendly type, but oh boy, if you like pages that have a texture to them: this is great. I could spend all day running my hand over it. Due to how it is produced, there are minor marks on a few pages here and there, but nothing detracting or distracting. If anything, it adds a spice of character. I was a bit worried initially since it doesn't have a hardcover and I was not using it for its intended Moonster cover/sleeve, but it worked out perfectly for me and is sturdy. I am not worried about pages falling out or the binding being undone. I love that the bookmark string is included since that helps me a lot. I will definitely be ordering again when I fill this one up. Picture of the book cover is included simply to show that this book fits other styles as well, not just Moonster (or least it fits the Crimson Chain ones) and does not prevent the book from closing or protrude from it.

The Moonster A5 journal refill is serving me well. It is the exact size and thickness I needed to replace the lined paper journal in a cover I received as a gift a few years ago. It is wonderfully constructed, the pages are sturdy, and the spacing between the lines are perfect for someone like me whose penmanship is a little larger than most. Thank you for workmanship.

This is a revised review. I was contacted by the company after my first review. They sent me another refill and asked me more about how the product had broken. I did notice that the spine on the new one is slightly different than the original I received, which makes me believe that it was a fluke. The cotton pages are thick and sturdy, and a delight to write on. I am very satisfied with both this paper and the leather journal. Looking forward to using them for many years. Below is my original reveiw : Let me say that upfront that the cotton pages are a dream. I got this to use instead of the unlined insert with my refillable journal made by the same company. I got both the journal and this I sent in the mail today, and I am blown away by the leather journal, but this lined insert has not lived up to my hopes. The spine has broken and a portion of the journal in the back is now falling off. I have temporarily saved it by taping it together with washi until I can order a different insert. After finding this flaw I noticed that the unlined spine is finished differently than the lined pages I have received, so maybe the unlined insert will be more sturdy, but for my use I prefer lined pages. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. Especially with the craftsmanship of the leather journal being so amazing. That this insert lasted all of 15 minutes makes me sad. Maybe I just got a fluke?

The best refillable journal ever. It fits perfectly in the journal and the pages are durable and smooth to write on. I use Sharpie 0.7 pens and highlighters; they don't bleed through. Would 100% recommend!

Uitstekend papier

I’ve been using Moonster journals for many many years now and have owned quite a few different ones. I’ve tried other brands in between, but I always end up coming back to Moonster. The quality is just great. The leather feels authentic, the craftsmanship is great, and every journal has its own character. They also age beautifully, which makes them feel even more personal over time (got one that’s pretty old, bout 10 years and it has this aged look, and the pages started turn yellow-ish) Definitely my go-to for journals.
