will this record my guitar into vst software and edit it as a midi....it'll make my guitar digital?

This will record your guitar into DAW software. But it will be recorded as a audio/wave form. If you have a VST plugins that converts AUDIO to MIDI, then yes - you will have your recording as a MIDI, and you can edit it as a MIDI.This interface is to take Audio from outside source and send it to your computer, or take MIDI from outside source and send it to your computer. But it doesn't do any Audio to Midi conversion itself.Other than that - I can say it's a great interface for good price. And it has low latency, so VST instruments and plugins will work with no lag.

What do i need to connect my akai mpk mini to this? i need a cord with usb b on one end but what on the other end?

Hi Taylor. I have the cord that came with the Tascam (as well as the instructions, CD, and all original packaging). The cord it came with outputs to USB, which you plug into your computer. As for as inputs, you can input with a MIDI cable, 2 TRS line inputs (guitar cable), or 2 XLR inputs (microphone cable). It also has RCA line outputs.I guess if you wanted to run an Akai MPK mini into this, you would need a USB-to-MIDI cable, or if you are running your Akai MPK into an external sound source (like a sound module), you could run TRS cables out of the external sound source's audio-out line and into the Tascam's audio-in inputs.I hope that helps.

It does Not come with a plug for wall power. However if you found a USB to 110 Volt adapter with the right voltage and amps (5V, Max 500mA), it could be done.
