This was a lot cheaper then taking it to a small engine shop and have them tune it once I installed and new corroborator on my Stihl MS 460 chainsaw. Found the all the RMP settings for my saw online and it was easy. The one change I can think of is to make the clip for the spark plug wire a little smaller for the hard to reach plugs (like a chain saw) but I was able to use it no problem. Great product!

I like this little tach. The clip is small enough to clamp onto small ignition wires in tight spots. Seems really accurate. Works great on 2 stroke & 4 stroke & different cylender configurations. Only thing I don't like is the battery isn't replaceable. At this price who cares....buy another one in a few years

I received this tachometer yesterday and took it out on my little boat today. I needed to measure the rpm of my Yamaha outboard to determine if my propeller selection was correct. This tachometer is easy to use and seems to be accurate. I did have to make an extension wire because the pick-up wire wasn't long enough for my application but that is not a complaint about the unit. However, I do have a complaint about the unit. The battery is not replaceable. Why in the heck would this company make a unit without the ability to replace the battery? I bought this unit because I did a search for the best portable tachometer and this one was on the top of the list. It does what it is supposed to do and functions properly so that is encouraging and I am aware that the expected battery life is 4-9 years. It's my fault for choosing this one but it is beyond me why a company would make a unit like this without making the battery replaceable. Really? How hard could that be or is it planned obsolescence (i.e., forcing the user to buy a replacement when the battery dies)? I do realize that the warranty is two years and I will certainly send it in for a refund if the battery dies before the two year mark.

This was so easy to use, I wonder why I didn't try it a long time ago. I wanted to check my lawnmower to see if it was running slow because it had not been cutting very well. In fact, it was about 300 rpm below what the manufacturer recommends. I just clipped this tachometer on the spark plug and got an immediate reading. I adjusted the governor arm and now my mower is back up to speed. Recommended.

I adjusted my chainsaw LOW/HIGH/Fuel/Air mixtures using this tachometer. The chainsaw is running very smoothly now. Well, it ran fine prior but that was at factory settings. Now even better. My ears are not as in tune as they were in the past. So making adjustments , by ear as I did in the past doesnt work as well for me. The tachometer was accurate. The tachometer definitely helped me with tuning the saw. My lawn/garden tools currently are in winter storage. However, I am sure this tool will come in handy, when I tune those small engines in the spring. I also acquired the Hipa 12 pack Carburetor Adjustment Tool Set with this Tach., One out of the twelve drivers in that package (the Spline driver) fit my chainsaw set screws. That driver I believe and the others will last a while. The material/metal to me appears to be durable. The plastic handle too. The other drivers I'm sure will fit my lawn tools. I went with twelve and not the ten pack because its better to have more tools than a few.

Used this to check the RPMs in my new Kohler 24 horse mower engine. It is easy to use and worked perfect.

Shoddy craftsmanship! Flecks of black stuff inside the display makes reading the results difficult. Does it work? Dunno. It gives a readout but who knows if it's accurate. The chainsaw I was tuning is supposed to idle at 2800 and not have the chain move. Adjusting the idle until the chain stopped moving and the readout fluctuated between 2800 and 3200 so I took that as a good sign.

This item seems to work very well I use it to tune my chainsaws it picks up on impulse signals pretty decent ways away it doesn't ramp-up quite as fast as I would like but it is a very good product and I would recommend it it's very good for its cost and I think there is help me tune my chainsaws to perfection

It works as advertised. But why is the battery not replaceable? So if the battery dies the entire device is disposable! The manual states non replaceable battery!
