Bird Songs Don't Lie: Writings from the Rez

Gordon’s books always ring true about Rez life. His writing is excellent, with details that accurately reflect southern California Indian reservations. I hate to finish one of his books without another to start.

This book was insightful about southern California native American culture. The author is extremely eloquent and descriptive. Keeps you captivated from start to finish.

My cousin wrote this book and several others I've enjoyed them all!

The non-fiction part was very enlightening. I would have loved more of his memories on the Rez.His writing is excellent and easy to follow. He really sets the stage for his characters.Highly recommend this book!

Gordon Lee Johnson is a terrific writer. I first enjoyed his book, "Fast Cars and Fry Bread." He unfurls both his real and imagined subjects with loving, specific, and often humorous care. You will see and feel these people. "Bird Songs Don't Lie" is a true pleasure to read.
