Sturdy and well-padded
I bought this at my doctor's recommendation to alleviate pain from lichen simplex chronicus in the tailbone area, a skin condition caused by too much sitting. It was relatively easy to assemble although be careful about which screws and rods you are picking up. It is possible to put the parts together wrong. I have arthritis in my hands and did it by myself using the two allen wrenches that come with it.It has a good solid feel and the pads are thick enough to be comfortable. My weight is shifted from my rear to my knees, or more accurately, the top end of the shinbone. The pressure on the shins gets to be a bit uncomfortable after an hour or so, but that's good because it gets me up and moving. I switch back and forth from a regular desk chair to this one. I've had it almost a month and have had almost no pain since. I can't speak to lumbar or back issues. I'm in my 70's and have no trouble getting on/off.One potential drawback is that I could barely get it low enough. It's adjustable, but the lowest position puts me sitting up higher than my desk chair. I'm 5'11" but long in the torso. I had to tilt my computer monitor up a bit. If your keyboard and monitor height/angle aren't adjustable and you're over six feet, this might not work for you. One end cap has a tendency to pop off, but I just pop it back in. It's cosmetic, not structural.

comfortable, dose the job it was purchased for
I've used this for 4 days so far, and already I am adjusting to be able to use it for longer stretches of time (1st day: 30mins between having to get up and move a bit, and switched to my old chair after 2-3 hrs. today: several 1.5-2.5 hr stretches and have used all day). My guess is most people will want to switch to a more conventional chair at least occasionally to relieve pressure on shins or knees. I find it is most comfortable when actively working on the computer and helps keep an ergonomic position for typing, but if I am passive (meeting/lecture) or writing by hand it is less comfortable than my old chair, mostly because it places me too high (even on the low setting).Would be slightly more comfortable if the angle of the seat cushion could be adjusted separately from the rest, but that would make it a much more complex device and drive up the price etc. If I find that slight angle difference important over time, I'll just make myself a mini wedge pillow to place over the top.If it did have a little bit of a back that would also be nice, and unlike the adjustable angle it would not be something overly complex to be added to the design, but also I might jury-rig something myself if I really feel it is necessary long-term.Easy to assemble, but could be made easier to adjust if one end of each or the bars holding it together were a wingnut instead of an allen wrench screw... as it is, to adjust it you need BOTH allen wrenches. The double ended screw to adjust seat height should be adjusted so it is evenly screwed in to both sides of the connectors, otherwise you will not get the full range of adjustment. It's not too hard to do that after assembly if needed, and unscrewing it all the way is an easy way to fold the chair flat without taking apart the rest or needing the allen wrenches.

FANTASTIC CHAIR!!!
So, I just got my chair and couldn't wait to put it together. I'm normally pretty challenged with diagram type directions, but the directions I received were straight forward and it took me about 15-20 minutes to put together myself. I accidentally used a medium length bolt for the frame that was needed for the seat. Once I figured this out, I made the changes, but note: when you lay out all the hardware, make sure you take note of the bolt sizes. Rookie mistake on my part, not the company :).So for the 20 minutes I've been sitting on this chair I love it. I did have to adjust the frame to the middle setting so I wasn't too far forward, and it's much more comfortable for me. I love the height adjustment feature too.I'll try to follow up in a few weeks to let you know if anything's changed but so far I LOVE THIS CHAIR!!!Update: I COMPLETELY THIS CHAIR!!! I've used it for more than a week, maybe two and my back pain is almost GONE!!!! Not saying it's a magic cure, but for my back pain it really has been AMAZING. I have issues sitting a long time due to a collapsing disc and this helps keep the pressure off my tailbone (I work in an office in front of a pc most days) and I'm now able to run and play with my 3.5 year old again and I've started to exercise again too. BEST MONEY I'VE EVER SPENT. I'm going to buy another one for use at my work office!!!

Good for me
EDIT: after 10 months, the cushion is low, and the bolts holding the seat and legs together snapped out.I decided on this chair based on price and thickness of the cushion. I am a budget shopper and there was another chair for $5 less but the cushion seemed much thinner. I have used this chair for 2 weeks and has helped with my back pain and front adductor pain immensely. I don't feel this hurts my knees or shins...I do feel pressure on it, but not painful. This was almost a 4 star review because of the following: I am 5' 3" and I have it on the tallest seat position. It barely makes it just right for my desk/monitor height. However if I want the knee pad to come up higher, the seat position gets lowered, so the other 2 position don't work. But at the end of the day, only one positions works for me and my height, therefore 5 stars if it happens to work for you. I did not put on the caster wheels since I am on carpet and never plan to wheel around. My chair had absolutely no smell, I had no problem putting together the chair myself with the tools included. Again I am a budget shopper would never spend so much on a chair, but had to because of health issues. Would purchase again and recommend to others. Too bad the price went up $20 since I purchased - makes it the same price as the others I was comparing it against.
