Nintendo's Controller vs. Hori Battle Pad vs. PDP Fight Pad
If you're looking for a controller as authentic and perfect for Super Smash Bros (among many other games) as the original GameCube controller from the early 2000s, this is it. It's not just similar to the original GameCube controller, it IS that controller. It's in white (not originally a color available in the US) and has the Smash Bros. logo on the front instead of only "Nintendo", but other than that it is the same. But being the same controller means it has the same GameCube wire connection, which means to play with this on a Wii U you will need to purchase the elusive and expensive Wii U / GameCube controller adapter. You can still keep waiting for them to become more easily available at the $19.99 MSRP (instead of the $50-80 scalper price), or just get an off-brand one and hope it works. Similar to how the original Japanese white GCN controller had a slightly longer cable, this is still the case with this re-badged Smash Bros. version. So instead of the woefully inadequate 6 feet, you will get about 9 feet with this controller. Not as good of a range as wireless, but still decent. If you need, there are many off-brand GameCube extension cables available for cheap. I would also recommend looking into the alternative options that are cheaper and don't require the Wii U / GameCube controller adapter: *Nintendo GameCube Controller vs. Hori Battle Pad vs. PDP Wired Fight Pad* Nintendo's controller: [+] Includes rumble [+] Has the unmistakeable classic look and feel you are used to, including great analog sticks and natural feeling button presses [+] Can be used with GameCube console, older style Wii console with GameCube ports, and Wii U console with adapter add-on [-] Does not have ZL and ZR buttons, only the single Z button up top, nor the + and - buttons that are now commonly used in Wii & Wii U games [*] Is wired, limiting your mobility, but freeing you from the never-ending cycle of recharging batteries Hori's Battle Pad Controller: [+] Has ZL and ZR for better compatibility with newer games, as well as the + and - buttons [+] Has a turbo feature that may come in handy at times [+] Is slightly cheaper than Nintendo's controller [*] Has a flat finish that holds up well do use [*] Is semi-wireless as it connects to a Wii Remote, giving you more mobility but requiring constant battery swapping/recharging [*] Has button-press triggers instead of the analog slide-in triggers from Nintendo's original PDP's Wired Fight Pad Controller: [+] Has ZL and ZR for better compatibility with newer games, as well as the + and - buttons [-] Does not have a turbo feature [+] Is slightly cheaper than Nintendo's controller [+] Has the biggest variety of controller colors, designs, and character themes [*] Has a glossy finish that looks very nice but is a fingerprint magnet [*] Is slightly larger than the Hori [*] Is semi-wireless as it connects to a Wii Remote, giving you more mobility but requiring constant battery swapping/recharging [*] Has analog slide-in triggers similar to Nintendo's original, instead of the button-press triggers of the Hori Overall, they are all great options, and you will not be disappointed with any of them. Just know their strengths and weaknesses and make sure you get the best one for your play style.

They're pretty nice. They all feel very crisp
Melee Players, listen up! I'm a melee-only smasher and bought this controller to replace an original spice orange nintendo controller. I've had this for 3 days now and here are my initial thoughts. Buttons: They're pretty nice. They all feel very crisp. All of the buttons are clicky and have a nice new springy-ness too them. The Y and X button especially seem to feel very new and sturdy. As a fox player, I need a consistent short-hop and these do the job for that. They allow a quick press and give me a solid short hop that I can rely on. I have no real complaints about the B and A button, and the Z feels very standard and nice. I will say that doing any sort of "button-sliding" like where you press Y and slide to B (for multi-shines or short hop double lasers) is a bit more difficult at first. With the Y button being more firm, it requires me to have to be just a little quicker and needs a harder press to get consistent multi-shines that stay on the ground. SHDL is not too hard to get used to and can get still pretty easily, but I will be honest and say that multi-shining is noticeably harder and it may take time to get used to. Triggers: Many people complained about the triggers and I understand why. They are a bit less responsive when pushing at a slight angle and can get stuck a tiny bit. I swapped my old triggers on and had no problems. I would say that getting used to the new triggers would not be that hard though, in my opinion. I understand where people are coming from when they talk about the angle issue, but my controller was nowhere near as bad as I expected as far as the triggers are concerned. If you have old triggers that you like, it may be worth it to buy a tri-wing screwdriver and replace the triggers on this controller. Sticks: Both analog sticks feel extremely nice. I will be honest and say that they are my favorite part about this controller. They feel nice and sturdy and springy. Both sticks reset to zero (center position) very quickly. They seem redesigned for smash and players who play high action per minute characters. The C-stick is nice and responsive and makes aerials easy. The left stick gives me a way more reliable dash dance, where I don't get stuck in turn around nearly as often. Also the Y-axis on the grey stick feels better than the older controllers. I'm noticing my fast falls are better when it comes to Fox shield pressure with Nair-Shines etc. They don't take long to get used to at all and I think they'll improve your game a lot. If I had one word to describe this controller, It'd be consistent. The controller feels consistent. It seems that I can trust my approaches and rely on my combos more without worrying about messing up. I still make mistakes, but this controller gives me way less missed techs and inputs. Overall, if you're a melee player at all, this is definitely a controller worth checking out. It's very responsive and has a very reasonable price tag. Also, the cord is longer which is a plus for me!

Great Official Controller with Tweaked Joystick Tightness, Stabilized Triggers (Metal Bars are inside), and Long Cable
I purchased this controller to play Melee, Project M, and Smash 4 with Netplay and on console. It is an official Nintendo product, but it is not exactly the same as the other Nintendo Gamecube controllers with a few minor differences that may go unnoticed: I would like to preface my review first by stating that I own old GameCube controllers in good condition, the new non-Smash-branded white Nintendo GameCube controllers, and some old Wavebirds, and this controller is better than all of those. Heres my overall impression - I would recommend this controller over any other (even the new non-Smash-branded official Nintendo controllers) if you are looking for a new GameCube controller to play Smash with, whether you are doing high APM Melee tech skills, or are just looking for a controller to have a good time playing casually. And heres why: 1. The joystick tightness for this controller seems to have been tweaked by Nintendo in an interesting way. These controllers are clearly meant for not just any GameCube games, but definitely for Smash specifically. The reason for this is that the joysticks are noticibly more tight on the vertical axis compared to the horizontal axis. I personally like this - it makes dash dancing in Melee easy with the easier-to-push horizontal axis, and is just a nice overall feel for Smash overall since you usually just move horizontally unless you're jumping. 2. The triggers include stabilizers, unlike the non-Smash-branded official white controllers. These are the metal bars that are inside the controller which distribute the force evenly so that the metal bars still go down easily when you press them at an angle. These stabilizers were removed in the new non-Smash-branded official white controllers, and you will notice the triggers are not as smooth on those controllers - even my well-worn one is not as smooth as this one. I can definitely say this controller has triggers that feel as good as the old Gamecube controller triggers. 3. This controller has a long cable. I compared it to the new non-Smash-branded official white controller, and it is the same length. Other notes: - This controller has a matte finish, which is noticibly rougher than the new non-Smash-branded official white controller as well as any other Gamecube controller I have used. I like how it feels a lot, but it does seem to get dirty very quickly. - The buttons feel a bit noticibly stiffer than I remember the non-Smash-branded controllers being when I first got that, which I like. I believe this will wear better over time, and I'm not sure if its a placebo effect or not, but it already seems to have worn in from when I got this controller and feels great.

I was disappointed when the controller I got was not what I ...
I recently ordered this controller along with an adapter for Smash Bros. When it finally arrived, I was disappointed when the controller I got was not what I ordered. It wasn't a white Smash Bros. controller. Instead it was a black controller that didn't even have the smash logo. It works just as well, and I have enjoyed using it. The controller has a few issues. When using the D-pad, its been inputting the wrong direction occasionally. Though that could be a user issue. The most prominent issue has been the L and R buttons. the L button was stable, and solid feeling. The R button was a bit loose and doesn't make a clicking noise when pressed. This has not caused any playing issues, but i can see it being a problem a few years down the line. I'm giving 3 stars only because the controller works well, but future purchases from here.

This controller is fantastic
Pros: It looks fantastic and the button layout is fantastic. The cord length is nice and long. Cons: The buttons feel a little stiff at first. My Conclusion: This will be a fantastic controller once it is broken in. Feel: This controller feels just like a classic GameCube controller. When you hold it in your hand it does not feel too big. The size of the controller is smaller than the Xbox 360 controller. It's the right size for playing games like Super Smash Bros. Melee. The Z Button feels a bit stiff at first, but this will not be an issue once I start playing with it. The D-Pad also feels stiff at first, but that will not be an issue after it gets some use. The Control Stick has an octagon pattern, which makes it easier to play fighting games like Super Smash Bros. Melee. The C-Stick has the same octagon pattern and benefits as the Control Stick. The L and R triggers feel a little stiff, but that will change once I start using the controller more. Button Layout: The button layout is the same as the original GameCube controller. It is refreshing to play on a controller that has a different A, B, X, Y pattern than the Xbox or PlayStation. The D-Pad is pretty close to the Control Stick, so you don't have to stretch your thumb at all to reach it. The C-Stick is below the B Button, which is the perfect distance for your thumb to reach. Cord Length: The cord length of the controller is fantastic. It is longer than the traditional GameCube controller. This is amazing because you no longer have to sit in front of the television to play your favorite games. I can sit a couple feet away from the television and play games with ease. Appearance: This controller looks stunning. It has an all-white finish which looks fantastic compared to other controllers. The little Smash Ball logo sparkles when you look at it. It looks just like an original GameCube controller. Price: The retail price of this controller is $34.99. This price is very fair if you end up ordering it online. With shipping it might cost a more than $40, which is still an amazing price for a controller of this caliber.

Elegant, Sublime
1. If it isn't broken, don't fix it 2. Listen to the needs of your audience. This controllers re-release is a strong argument for why Nintendo is a company that makes quality products and listens to their audience. I'll give you the skinny first if you're in a hurry: PROS: -Time tested Nintendo build quality. -Compatible with Gamecube/Wii/Wii U and PC -Buttons and Sticks respond excellent and return to their neutral positions after 8 months of heavy Smash Bros. gaming. -10ft Cord length is a versatile addition to the design -New Smash Bros. aesthetic looks great CONS: -The only con I can think of is the cord plastic coat , which is likely to see fraying and separation as it becomes inflexible after 7+ years worth of wear. I believe that this controller was basically revived with more or less the same build materials as the older GameCube generation controllers and if it really is, then it will probably have the same problem. This particular problem is exacerbated by the way most people wrap their controllers, directly over where the cord meets the controller. I've included picture of my 14 year old GameCube platinum controller to illustrate this point. It still works after all these years though. We're using a 14 year old controller design in modern day gaming. Sometimes its not about the latest gimmick or innovation. This really is a nice controller. I liken its continued popularity to quality parts and ergonomic layout rather than nostalgia, but I could be certainly biased :). I've used it with the older 2-port PC Mayflash Adapter with excellent results, no lag Mayflash GC Controller Adapter for PC but they have since released a new 4-port version for both PC AND Wii U at a lower price which I will be using in the coming future Mayflash GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U and PC USB, 4 Port .

Great controller would buy again
I am always afriad of buying controllers on amazon... or anywhere online for that matter. I've had some bad luck with 3rd party controllers and even some that claim to be 1st party, turn out not to be. Now, here's the interesting thing. I can't tell if this is a 1st or 3rd. It looks like a 1st in all ways but one: the control stick On the first party the head of the stick is separate, but on this one the stick is all one piece... it would make it more difficult to replace. But if the stick was broken on a 1st party you'd still have the same difficulty playing it. That is not a criticism, the stick works fine as the rest of the controller. The only criticism is the right shoulder button, it takes a little more force the push down. It's not good if you are relying on speed, but if that is not a factor it shouldn't be a problem. All the other buttons are very responsive and the feel of the controller is good. I would recommend this over the cheap ones that are clearly 3rd party ones.

Ottima spedizione, ottimo prodotto.
Pienamente soddisfatto dell'acquisto.

SSB Gamecube controler is great!
The Nintendo Super Smash Bros. White Gamecube controller (2014) is a great controller for any one who has a Gamecube system, or other systems that can support this controller, like the original Wii console. This controller can work on North American systems since they are not region locked. This controller is a good replacement or older controllers that may have stopped working and has a longer cable then most other GCN controllers. Also this is a official product, so you are getting a controller that will be reliable for all your Gamecube games, more then just super smash bros. If your planing to use this controller for the Wii U system you will need the adepter that unfortunately only works with SSB for Wii U and does not support other Wii U games and apps. But it can work with all GCN games and any original Wii games that support Gamecube controllers. Had this controller for 4 days and has been one of my top Gamecube controllers also! Since it has all features working property like any Nintendo made controller compared to most third-party controllers which are usually unreliable and not even licenced. The box are is also nice to look at that I'm going to keep it! I also have images of the controller and box. Sorry if the pictures are hard to see due to them being dark and having noise. Overall, this controller is for anyone who wants or needs a new Gamecube controller made by Nintendo!

Gorgeous controller.
Fantastic controller. I love the white look, and the Smash icon at the top looks amazing with a slightly shiny aesthetic. Cable is far longer than the original Gamecube controllers, and I believe the material of the controller is a little bit more matt, which I love - feels much better in the hand. Only complaint is that my first few hours of playing with it, the L+R triggers would sometimes stick, but after a little bit of heavy use, it seems like I had to 'break in' the buttons, and now they feel much better. Highly reccomended. Also you get a sick-af box with all this japanese writing I can't read with all the smash characters exploding out of it. For £20? Don't even hesitate.

Genial!
