Write it in Arabic: A WorkBook and Step-By-Step gGuide to Writing the Arabic Alphabet

Useful introduction to reading and writing
I am interested in learning Arabic (knowing nothing about it at all) and purchased this book as a companion to Ultimate Arabic Beginner-Intermediate (Book and CD Set).I am glad I bought the book, because it was very clear and easy to understand, while the written Arabic component of the so-called introductory Ultimate Arabic Beginner-Intermediate text basically zooms from what (in the Canadian public school system) might be around a grade 2 to Grade 11 level in the first three chapters.Write It in Arabic offers a very clear guide to Arabic script, presented in alphabetical order. It explains the characters, provides five examples of different words using each letter, and offers many exercises for practising (including ones you can trace, which is not as crazy as it might sound). It also shows the differences between printed script (as in newspapers) and handwritten script - again, very useful. It was frustrating, though, to start with Write It in Arabic only to find, in moving on to the Ultimate Arabic Beginner-Intermediate text, that there are half a dozen or more character annotations (that modify consonants to create vowels) which Write It in Arabic essentially ignored until the end. The reason this was frustrating was that I had begun to create flash cards of the Arabic words given for practice, to build up a vocabulary - only to discover when I moved to the other book that most of the words lacked the character annotations and were incorrect. This meant I had to redo all of my flash cards - and since I am doing this at night, usually after 9 pm, after work/making dinner/doing laundry, just imagine my joy at the inefficient use of my time. While I wish the author had provided the 'complete' characters from the start (not leaving it as a nasty surprise to the end), I found the book useful and would recommend it to others.

Very helpful -- do this before beginning arabic
I went through this book before beginning a basic Arabic textbook, and I am very glad that I did. Even though the latter offered an introduction to the letters, I was much more comfortable and confident having done this first.

Very convenient and fun way to learn
I got this edition after I decided to further the Arabic I was learning to write and read. This is a perfect book to learn with and I noticed it was different from the first edition in the extra pages about the vowel marks the kasra, fathaa and damma, and other signs shadda, tanween, madda and sukoon, part of tashkeel, and the handwriting excercises and puzzles and more of them. When I tried out the handwriting exercises they were very simple and easy to do and there was no difficulty in doing any of them. Very convenient and fun way to improve the language was able to work on the exercises put it down and come back and pick it up later. When I completed the exercises I realized it gave me a better understanding of the language right away and it's is easy to take with you on the go and durable. There is complex sentence structuring in some of the handwriting exercises. Recommend:)

Good book to practice early Aarabic writing
Good book to practice early Aarabic writing. Shows most forms of each letter. Shows early on how to use them in words (i.e. how to connect the letters). One negative: does not explain diacritical marks until 2/3s through the book, and leaves them off most. Makes if harder for early students to know what letters to "double", or "where the vowels go".

Helpful Guide to Arabic
This little workbook is very helpful in learning basic Arabic characters and disjoined and joined letters along with gender associations. The pattern guide is nice to give one a feel for learning right to left and also how to actually make the letters.

Excellent for beginners
I am an Arabic and Islamic studies teacher and teach private and public classes on Arabic grammar.I would always face the problem of poor Arabic writing and frequent mistakes and blunders from the students due to not having a proper, systematic instructional text that could help in this regard. However, "Write it in Arabic" was the answer to that problem. It is simple, straight-forward and practical. I love it and the students love it. Very USER-FRIENDLY. I think it should be included in all beginners Arabic curriculums.

I have not finished the book as of today, but I do find it very informative and great for an introduction to Arabic.

Write It in Arabic: A Workbook and Step-by-Step Guide
A great guide to learning how to write the Arabic script, from single letters and numbers to sentences, words and more.Other books on writing focus only on the alphabet and if you're lucky, the numbers. This book has the alphabet, phrases, sentences, numbers and the mixing of numbers, letters and words. (Addresses would be one example.)Great for any beginner - like me. Too basic for intermediate or advanced students.

Not what you would expect from a good Arabic book
Not what you would expect from a good Arabic book. The author has repeatedly made mistakes with hamza (apparently she doesn't realise its existence) and the pronunciation of letters. Disappointing.

Clear and informative
I bought three Arabic handwriting books at the same time for a project at work. This is definitely the best of the lot - clear, well presented, and with lots of explanation.

Simple and Effective
This book is exactly what you need if you are beginning this language from scratch. It is clear, simple, uncluttered and gives you just what you need to get started. The perfect stepping stone. However, the key to learning is repetition and testing yourself and I would have liked some more exercises. But that should not detract from a super little book.

Two Stars
Not for beginners. More progressive learning methods required.
