This little meter answers the question, is your water soft or hard and to what numerical degree is it so. this is a small accurate and innexpensive device one should use before committing to spending huge amounts on water softeners

I think it does the job in general but if you need more information on your water, you need to get somthing else. The first time I used it , it gave me different readings on the same water so I need to figure out how to use it..,

This iSpring TDS3 TDS Meter is worthless. I tested the water from my fridge water supply before adding a new filter a total of 5 times, for an average of 130 PPM. I knew the old filter was long past needing replacing as I had installed it new in September 2010. So this morning I replaced the old filter with a filter that is supposed to filter out even a higher level of degree contaminants than the old filter. Both filters are Whirlpool PUR high end filters not the cheap knocks offs that don't work. For those interested the old filter part number is 4396508 the new filter number is 4396510. The difference in the 08 and the 10 is as I mentioned the 10 filters out higher contaminants, in other words it's a premium filter. The brand new 4396510 after running 3 gals of water thought it till the water ran clear as the instructions said to do reads from the TDS Meter from an average of 5 different reads 135, that's 5 PPM higher than the old worn out water filter. According to the iSpring TDS Meter I can go back and install my old filter since it's working way better than the new filter I paid a lot of money for. I also tested the tap water right out of the tap from my kitchen sink, the tap water is so nasty you can actually see things floating around in it with the naked eye and it read 137 PPM. Needless to say this iSpring TDS3 TDS Meter will be going back as it's a dud.

I bought this Hardness Test Meter when I purchased my iSpring RCC7 system. It works great and is a must have for an RO system. This unit is still working fine for the last 8 years, I'll probably have to replace the battery one of these days. I really appreciate iSpring's quality and pricing.

Item worked fine after I replaced the dead batteries that were in it when I received it new.

Had this for about a month. I would say it’s pretty accurate. I’ve been testing out water since I quit bottled water. Come to find out, the TDS really does not mean anything. The TDS in water could be all bad or good solids. You’d have to buy other tests to find out what the solids are in your water. The electrolytes that hydrate water can raise TDS. This is just good to get an idea of what you’re dealing with. Expect to buy more advanced test kits to find out what’s really in your water. Super easy to use. You really can’t mess up. I have 2 TDS meters just to make sure it’s not off on the readings. And they both almost come to the same number.

Our well water tests anywhere from 700-800 TDS. This can vary from samples taken a minute after another. I am not sure how normal this is for samples to fluctuate on the same line this way but in comparison to testing the filtered water samples from my RO faucet I have to say it seems the tester seems pretty accurate. My filtered water samples read steadily from 21-22 TDS. Store bought cooler water reads at 11 TDS from spigot. I'm giving this item a 5 star review because I have no reason to believe it isn't operating as designed to despite large fluctuations in close water samples from tap. I think as well water sits in lines there is more TDS, the longer I run lines before I take the sample the lower the TDS number readings are. This is consistent.
