The Loveliest Children’s Book
This is one of my favorite children’s books. The lovely simple storyline reads like a poem for young children coupled with gorgeous illustrations. I never tire reading this to my children and have gifted it also.

poetry on poetry
i have carefully collected illustrated books for a few decades and i must say this is one of the best purchases i've made. books aren't just a source of information, they are foremost a source of language and imagination. put a book into a child's hand that is rich in language and illustrations and you soon have a child in love with language and books. that's what happened to me some decades ago. this book is rich with sonics and rhythms, coaxing the reader to anticipate the next turned page. as a poet, i cannot praise this book high enough. and don't worry, if you think you don't like poetry, you will love this book because the poetry in it sneaks up on you.

Beautiful!
m a big fan of Krommes illustration style, I could spent house just enjoying the beauty of these illustrations. The story is also excellent. While deceptively simple, the words and illustrations combine to create a thoroughly enjoyable picture book experience. The whole premise is based on the arrival of a rain storm. The reader gets to see the storm blow in, leave its mark and then disappear. The whole thing feels like a real experience as the reader sees the reactions of the animals and people to the changing weather. Not only does this book provide beautiful illustrations but also read like poetry, which I loved. A true winner that would be perfect for sharing during a rain storm or in a classroom studying weather or seasons.

Loved the illustrations in this book - reminded me of watercolor drawings. This was a great book to add to our collection of spring books.

I'm an avid fan of Beth's work--I love both her naturalistic non-fiction (BUTTERFLY EYES) and her narrative young picture books (THE HOUSE IN THE NIGHT).BLUE on BLUE does not disappoint! Dianne White's deceptively simple rainy day poem gives Beth Krommes the opportunity to connect the cozy feelings of family, childhood, and home with the wonder of a rainy day, and the reading of a book.

Great on great
Blue on Blue is a gorgeous book, with a lovely poetic rhythm. The words paint a wonderful picture in the reader's mind. And the illustrations are equally incredible! The text is simple, yet effective in captivating the imagination. As a parent, I love finding books that my kids pull off the shelves time and again. As a teacher, I love finding books with text so vivid that students see exactly what the author has crafted. I am excited by this book, and enthusiastically recommend it!
