Will this remove cleaning product stains pls?

I think it should be made very clear, this is NOT a cleaning product! But in answer to your question, it WILL cover any stains or marks on your slate (i've used it on my slate hearth) Just to clear, it's not a cleaner, it is more like a very black watery paint. It has left my hearth very black, quite shinny, not at all like the dull mat slate look. And so far, is quite scratch resistant. I used about 1/3 of a bottle to cover my hearth, and i used a new cleaning sponge to apply it. Two coats gave me a good finished look. I would recommend it if you're looking to smarten up your hearth.

How much do you need for slate flooring?

A lot!!! I'm not sure this would be suitable for a floor ?? To me it goes on more like an ink. WD40 worked far better on our hearth, more natural looking. I guess it depends on what you want to achieve though.

Would this be suitable for blackening a sink which is carved from slate? It has faded to grey with age and limescale.

Might be... it is like a very runny black paint. It would be worth getting a jar and perhaps trying it on a hidden bit first perhaps. It also dries quite quick. I did my hearth last year, it is still shiny black. It was with stood normal log burner duties, but will it survive in a sink? But then what do you have to loose?

My black slate tile floor is a bit knackered. do you think this is a good idea to use ? if i deep clean with a hg cleaner, then apply this then seal?

All I did was clean the clock with got soapy water then cleaned with white spirit until all the grime had gone then with a soft cloth gently rubbed two or three coats of blacking. No need to seal. The clock case will look amazing

Follow instructions and it will work perfectly

This stuff is fab! I used it on a black Italian marble clock approx 200 years old, it had water stains, was faded and a bit fusty looking in places. This paint is quite runny and is easily applied with a cloth, be careful to apply the coats evenly as extra bits show up and you’d need another full coat. We followed instructions and brought the clock back to new. We didn’t want it too flashy/wanted to keep its character and it has. Very happy with this stuff!

Bad packaging

It seems to work OK on initial use. However the packaging is not really adequate as it was just packed in an envelope and looks like it had been squashed causing it to leak.

Really good

Used it on my slate hearth that was a bit too grey for my liking. Worked an absolute treat! Was sceptical but it came out so nicely and much darker. Didn’t use a lot of the product either. Applied with a microfibre cloth -would recommend.

Amazing!!!!

I am using this on a floor and it’s fantastic. It’s only a little bottle but I’ve lost track of how many slates it’s done. (Big slates in a Victorian house) it’s great!!!!

Works Well

Good finish to our rather dirty and scratched black slate hearth. Our neighbour came round and was impressed, the downer for me was when he told me he used plain cooking oil to clean and rejuvenate his similar slate hearth a week earlier, went around his house and yep it was just as good...

No less than miraculous

This product was my last ditch effort for remediating the stained, horrific slate of our hearth and fireplace surround. No trick in the book could clean the stains. And I dislike the only heat-resistant paint that’s readily available because it’s matte black. After two applications of Slate Blacking, the fireplace and hearth have not only been rejuvenated, but they appear new and have just enough shine (akin to a semigloss). Application was easy (tape off meticulously and wear gloves!) and for two coats I used less than one 4 ounce (120mL) bottle. THANK YOU TO THE SELLERS FOR MAKING THIS AVAILABLE OVERSEAS!! I LOVE YOU FOR IT!!
