How does one use this in a washing machine? Grate by the cup, or leave it in the machine?

It is mainly used when hand washing but I use it for my machine washing as well. I grate it and add to the load and I some times dice it up into little dice like shapes or bouillon cubes. Store it in a container and add a few cubes when I am washing(especially great with whites)!!!! Love this stuff along with the Bomber brand. AMAZING. Add with regular detergent. It gives it a great kick and you can use this to pre soak your clothes.

Is this the kind of bar i can dissolve in water to have detergent?

It is a bar... I do grate it up and use for whites, but I add other things to make my own detergent. But I have a scrub board...and use it for whites spot cleaning... I love white socks, not dingy so this soap is a marvelous buy!

Is this safe to use on skin especially when under hot or any type of water?

It is quite safe to use on skin. It is soap or was the soap of choice for teenage girls and boys to use wash their face before and especially after school to look cool and fresh just before hanging out at the bus parks in Jamaica. Never have I ever hard of any adverse effects. I have also used it to do such.
