It's been a great little power supply!
Bought this in 2018. I may have reviewed it right away. So this is an "After Six Years Of Use" review. I wanted to mount it in an ammo can, so I moved the fuse to the front, and moved the rectifier and heat sink to the side of the unit. Then I mounted it in an ammo can. I had to file off the top of the fuse holder and remove some plastic from the + and - connectors on the front panel; I had to do that in order to close the lid of the ammo can. I added various cords and connectors for a wide variety of applications. I paired it with a VHF/UHF radio in another ammo can (with a battery pack) for a great disaster prep radio combination! I've been using this setup as a VHF/UHF base station on top of my HF radio cabinet for 6 years. No complaints, no issues. It's been a fantastic little power supply, and I've even used it to power my Yaesu FT-817 HF transceiver on many occasions. Two Thumbs Up!

Capable and smooth power
I am using this unit to provide 12 volt power to a vintage travel trailer I am restoring. Much more cost effective than buying a battery and on board charger at this point. It provides all the power I need for exterior and interior LED lights, vent fans and appliance controls. Power is smooth, lights steady with no pulsing. Quiet and powerful. Good economical solution for interim 12 volt power.

Very good 3A power supply
First, let me state that I designed power supplies many years ago. So I know something about power supply specifications and testing. The documentation with the power supply states the following specifications:output 13.8 V +/- 0.3 V, ripply 150 mV rms (424 mV p-p) at 5 amps continuous, regulation 2.5%I purchased this power supply to provide 13.8 V at up to about 3 amp. I use this for low power amateur radio equipment. So I needed the low noise of a linear power supply, but usually don't need more than 1 to 2 amps. As a 3 amp power supply, this performs very well. Output voltage varied from 13.75 V at no load to 13.65 V at 3 amps, and the ripple (noise) never exceeded 20 mV p-p. Above 3 amps, the output begins to drop and ripple increases rapidly. At 4 amps, the output was 11.8 V and ripple 500 mV p-p. I did not test the power supply above 4 amps, nor did I test the over-load and over-temp protection. If you're looking for a true 5 amp power supply, you may want to look for something else. Pyramid makes a 12 amp linear power supply, which may be a better choice for those users.

Great for what I need it for
I have my small ham radio connected to the Pyramid PS9KX, and have it on all day long. It works great for my needs at this time. It puts out a consistent 13.8 volts all day long. I like having the option to use the DC plug or direct wire connection.

Pyramid PS9KX 12V Power Supply - a definite BUY, quality construction, adheres to advertised specs
This is a review of the Pyramid PS9KX 12V, 5amp Power Supply. Made in China but built like a tank (the housing is made of steel as you might expect. It has a 12V Cigarette lighter receptacle plus a set of screw terminal (+/-) connectors. I use it mainly to program settings for dashcams b/c I hate having to dismount them or break my neck to view them on windshields - usually in either very hot or cold vehicles at that. It's really nice to do that programming while sitting on my living room sofa or at my workbench. Of course, you can use this unit to charge/run any 12V devices, with the proper connector. The receptacle and screw terminals have an advertised output of 13.8V (I verified my output at 13.78V on both - close enough). The power cord on my unit is 51 inches long and is the only shortcoming (no pun intended) of the unit - I'd like to have had an 8 foot cord; otherwise, I rate this power supply as a definite BUY.The manufacturer boasts that this power supply has: 1) over temperature protection, 2) short circuit protection, and is 3) fused. It runs on 115V AC 60Hz and draws 70W. It’s rated at 5A constant, 7A surge. It has a nice heat sink on the back side which appears to be aluminum. It has beefy, rubber feet to hold it steady. My unit weighed 4lbs. 3oz (1.9kg), excluding the power cord.

Great Product. Gets the job done
I purchased this power supply to test 12 volt auto parts when needed. When not testing this power supply is constantly being used for my hobbies. I run CB'S and a Ham radio for fun. I built a stereo box with a bluetooth car radio for the garage and this device is perfect to power it.I am very happy with the quality of the build. The weight of this item alone speaks volume about its quality. I will be buying another so I don't have to share this one between devices.
