Follow the instructions, read the book first
I don't have a ton of weight to lose, 30 lbs., so I would never qualify for a *real* gastric band, nor would I want one. I'm too chicken for any surgery, so I decided to try this as no matter what I eat I never seem to feel full or satisfied. This 30 lbs. I've been trying to lose the past 10 years with no real success, other than a couple pounds lost, then regained, like yo-yo dieting.I was eager to start so I popped the CD into my computer when I heard a stern warning to stop the CD and read the book first. It's a quick read as the type is large and the lines are almost double-spaced. Don't jeopardize this not working for you by skipping the book, it's important. For 1-2 weeks before you start the hypnosis sessions, you're supposed to walk 20 minutes a day and eat less high fat/high sugar foods, just as if you were preparing for a *real* gastric band.I thought a British accent would distract me enough to not become hypnotized, Paul McKenna's voice is soothing and his accent did not keep me from going into a trance.CD: Has 2 tracks.Track 1: Pre-operative instructions 13 minutes long. (Which tells you to stop the CD and read the book first!)Track 2: Gastric band installation trance. 28 minutes long.DVD: Havening Technique. Under 5 minutes long - a chest-tapping/eye movement procedure to use if you have uncomfortable feelings? This technique is supposed to help raise your serotonin levels since food will no longer be doing that for you. I've been doing this in private (kind of odd) - maybe it takes awhile to see any result other than just feeling dumb when doing it - this may be too New Age for me.You are supposed to follow McKenna's Golden Rules (I don't have the other book but I've seen the Golden Rules and he goes into detail in THIS book so no need to buy the other if you don't already own it).1. When you are hungry, eat.2. Eat what you want, not what you think you should.3. Eat consciously.4. When you think you're full, stop eating.So does this mental gastric band work? I could tell the first time I ate after having it "inserted" that I felt full quicker, and it lasted a long time before I felt hungry again. You can eat most anything you want, but you will want less of it. I don't like typical breakfast food, but occasionally I will stop at McDonald's or Burger King on the drive to work but only eat half my order and save the rest for another day...which I never did before--I ate it all at once and I was going through the drive-up every day Monday-Friday. It's been 2 weeks and I've lost 5 lbs. so far.

I think it's working!!
Coming from a skeptic who never thought I could even be hypnotized, (I do not like the idea of not being in control) I believe this is working. I just received this book a few days ago and after reading the book, I tried the CD. Now I can honestly say, I remember the first part of the hypnotherapy session, but I cannot recall at least 20 of the 30 minutes of it. I've tried this twice now and I still do not remember what was said. However, I have noticed differences in my behavior that have startled me. For instance, yesterday I noticed as I ate breakfast I was counting how many times I was chewing my food. I stopped for a minute amazed that I was doing that without realizing it, as I read in the book that it was something we should do. And I've noticed I don't feel overly full or have a sickening feeling of being full, but I have noticed that I am eating less and less often than normal. So far so good, I think I will listen to the CD at least once a week and see how it goes. So far, I'm amazed and happy with the results.

Trying this with an open mind
I just did the hypnosis cd. I read the book already and learned the havening technique from the dvd just like the instructions say. The technique is a lot like Emdr which worked for me for other issues.The procedure part of the cd was extremely relaxing, I haven't felt that relaxed in I cant remember when. I was able to visualize the procedure. Time will tell whether this helps. I do have this nice, really pleasant sense of it is going to be ok after doing the cd. I could only eat 2 scrambled eggs and 5-6 grapes for lunch, then I felt like I couldn't eat anything else. But we'll see how I do over the weekend and in the week. Right now I am on the border of overweight and obese and nothing else has worked long term more than several months, I will listen to it again in a few days to reinforce. Mostly, I love the relaxation, and if nothing else, that part will be good for me.

this CD was very easy to go into a "trance"
After being "hypnotized" everyday with the "I can make you Thin" CD, this CD was very easy to go into a "trance". I feel fuller faster. I have not followed this program 100% either - however, I have lost 2 pounds. This does not seem like a lot but I have tried so many other programs and could not lose even an ounce! I look forward to losing more! I have only listened to the CD twice.

It does work!
I've been listening to this for 5 months now (purchased early August 2015, this is late Janaury 2016). I wanted to loose 45 pounds (but would have been happy loosing 5). Within 1 1/2 months, I lost 12 pounds!I most definitely eat less during a particular meal. I can feel my stomach filling up much faster, and I will have the "stuffed" feel much quicker than normal (I try to avoid the stuffed feel, although it happens occasionally).The problem I personally have is that I like to snack throughout the day. If I didn't snack, I would have lost much more. Unfortunately, I'm still at the 12 pounds lost mark. While I'm happy I've lost 12 pounds, I would really like to loose much more.Up until the last week, I would listen to the hypnosis CD throughout the day - never really allowing myself to truly meditate (e.g. While working, or cleaning, etc.). Starting last week, I've been listening to it right before going to bed (it's hard to put everything down during the day that I'm working on, to sit and meditate for 30 minutes). I think it's helping some, but can't really say after such a short time. So far, I can definitely say it helps me to sleep soundly (side benefit)!Overall review - it's worth trying. However, I'm still working on it and plan on sticking with this.

Nothing to lose but those unwanted lbs
My husband pre-ordered this for me as I have previously followed Paul McKennas 'I can make you thin' system.I have to say that I'm normally quite cynical when it comes to these kind of products but after years of dieting and reverting back to my pre-diet weight, I figured why not just give it a try?I read through the book in a day. Much of the book content is similar to the 'I can make you thin' system as the golden rules still apply. Much of the plan is common sense: Eat consciously, eat when you are hungry, eat until you feel satisfied and then stop! This sounds like such a simple concept, but if it was that simple in real life, we'd all be slim!This is where the pre-op and gastric band surgery trances come in to play. So far, the trances have been more effective than I ever expected. I genuinely feel as though I can no longer over eat and I'm already having to revise my portion sizes!I appreciate that it is still early days, so I'll update and re-review this in a few weeks time.(10/1/13)I know I said that I would re-review in a few weeks (and I will properly) but I just wanted to share my first week's results! Not only have I lost just over 7lbs in my first week, but as much as I can almost not believe I'm typing this... It has genuinely seemed utterly effortless!(3/2/13) Apologies for not re-reviewing at the 4wk mark as I initially intended as I have been busy! I just wanted to share that this system continues to work brilliantly for me.My weightloss slowed/plateaued a little at the 2/3week point but those weeks, I began to lose inches!At week 4, I am down by a fabulous 12lbs and a whole dress size and I'm still shrinking!Long story short... I am more convinced each day in the power of this amazing system. It remains nothing short of a miracle for me! No more diets in this household, just sensible eating and consistent weightloss. Wonderful!! Thank you Paul McKenna... x(28/2/13) Week Eight: I am now down by almost 16lbs and no sign of boredom - I am normally utterly bored and miserable when trying to lose weight! - Maybe the key word here is TRYING? I still haven't felt as though I have had to try and I'm still eating what I want, when I want!!(26/5/13). I wasn't going to continue adding to this review, but I've noticed a new wave of interest in this book so I thought I should add how well this system is STILL working for me I am now down from a very large UK16 (can't bring myself to admit that I should have been in an 18!!) To a comfortable UK size 12. 26.5lbs gone forever and it's honestly now just a way of life. I still eat out and eat 'naughty' foods when I want to but it's all in moderation and without conscious thought.... Truly a life changer for me and I can categorically state that there will be no more 'DIETS' for me EVER!!!(18/6/13) edited at the request of Sian!Just to let people know that I am STILL shrinking!!! Currently my weight loss is an amazing 33.8lbs and I am merely 7lbs over my desired goal as I type this! I have been recording my losses in an app on my phone and its telling me that 33.8lbs is 18.8% of my starting weight which I am beyond thrilled with!We have had several birthdays in the family and I have eaten out (and endulged in slices of cake!!) but all in the moderation the band allows so the weight is still shifting!!I am now down to a size 10!!Hopefully my next update will be to say I am at my goal!!!! ;-)Keep going everyone!!!

Great book an easy read
I like Paul McKenna and this book is written as part of the hypnotherapy. I have followed his four golden rules and I have noticed that at night when I would usually be searching for "snacks" even after I wonderful meal, I no longer do that. It has only been about two weeks and I have listen a couple of times. I believe that this will work for me. It is well worth a try.

Boh, forse sono io...
Mah, onestamente non mi pare sia molto migliore del precedente "I can make you thin". Paul McKenna è un tipo carismatico e simpatico e mi è piaciuto quando l'ho visto dal vivo ma questo libro-cd non mi pare sia di grande efficacia. Forse l'ipnosi andrebbe praticata in presenza dell'operatore...in ogni caso, per me, soldi spesi proprio male!

It works, It works, and wow!
Thank you Paul, this book is changing my life. I particularly love the havening. You are changing my life. This book is really amazing and everything that he says is true. I believe this is going to make the biggest difference in my life, not just in the weight loss, but in the emotional control it is providing me with.
