AMAZING ONCE AGAIN!
I bought this game for my 5yr and 15yr old grandsons and they just loves it! My 15yr old says the storyline is "everywhere" but the rest of the game is really great, you get to fight Greengoblin, Mr Electro, Blackcat, Kingpin, Carnagekiller, The Shocker, and Ravencroft, there may be more, I'm not sure and you also get Unlockable and DLC suits! It's as good as, if not better than The Am. Spiderman 1, we love it an I'm sure you"re gonna love it too!

Another great game, I'm on a roll
Whheee!!! Another great game, I'm on a roll! I just got this-and The Amazing Spiderman 1 and I can honestly say that neither one is better than the other. The graphics are literally jaw dropping and the fighting sequences are to die for(no pun intended). I'm so ready to go on a gaming binge. Bye! Going to go play me some Spidey!

great game - wonderful graphics
Impressive graphics and hours of game play make this a worthwhile game to own. Perfect gift for any Spider-man/video game fan!

It could be better.
This spiderman is not as fun as it's predessesor.Swinging was easier when it was only one button to push.Being forced to gain heroic points is a chore.

Cool game with too much busy work
For the most part I thought this game was pretty good. I didn’t particularly enjoy the dual trigger web slinging, but I got used to it after a while. It was also a weird choice not having Gwen in this story. She’s almost completely absent, barely even mentioned at all. But I did like the variety of Spidey suits, and the story was mostly good for a movie tie-in game. I also did like the final boss fight. But there should have been more super-villain fights. Anyway, my biggest problem with this game is that, even after you beat the game and you’re doing all of the collection quests, there’s still mandatory busy work. You MUST do those pop-up side quests, disrupting what you were otherwise doing, because the Heroic/Menace meter is constantly falling every so often. When that happens you’ll be harassed by the Osborn Task Force. It’s just a hassle that I hate having to deal with when I’m trying to collect 280 comic pages for the trophy. I wish I could just focus on that without having to do chores.

The Mediocre Spider-Man 2
If you ever hear anyone say how much they love the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Game, you can be sure they're saying they love the amazing "Spider-Man 2" game and not "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" game. Confusing? Let's go back in history for a bit. The Sony Playstation was blessed with two incredibly fun Spider-Man games. They were some of the best superhero games on a console, and they were pretty popular. The Playstation 2 got, in time for the release of the first Spider-Man film a game that was basically a visually upgraded version of those two. It played the same, it just looked better. Then Spider-Man 2, the film, was released, and a game came alongside it for the three major consoles. While the film was making history as one of the greatest superhero movies, the game was doing the same for superhero games. It was just the right combination of every good idea a Spider-Man game ever had, and practically none of the bad ones. The major differences between that game and all the previous ones were that the game was open world, so you could travel around the city all you wanted, and that web-swinging was impossibly fun. For the first time in a Spider-Man game, swinging was realistic, as it had your webs attaching to buildings, and the physics engine did the rest. Most Spider-Man games after that one had used the same formula, with varying degrees of success, but to this day, Spider-Man 2 is still the game all other Spider-Man games are measured against. With the release of the Amazing Spider-Man film, Beenox (who have made the last Spider-Man games, which were not open world) released a game based on it (technically, it was a sequel). I have not played that game, but I know two things about it: it is open world, and it doesn't have realistic web swinging. Now, with the release of the last film's sequel, there's this, the last game's sequel. This one is also open world and has realistic swinging again, which they nailed. Swinging is incredibly fun, just as it was before, but sadly, that's one of the very few things the game has going for it. The most obvious problem, though not the worst one by any means, is the graphics. They are Playstation 2 quality. Before I played the game I thought people were exaggerating when they said that, but they weren't. No other open world game I've played on the PS3 has graphics this poor, even the oldest ones. Saints Row looks better. The first one. And that game had you on the street all the time, where there's more detail, they would have had an excuse to look simpler. Spider-Man is easily the most detailed model in the entire game. Low-res textures will make you think the game is still loading them, but after you've spent half a minute staring at a building's surface you'll sadly realize it won't start to look better. Low polygon count means there's a lot of jagged edges, as if the resolution is really small and the screen is getting stretched (which is probably what's happening). Ligthing will make shadows stutter around as if a guy holding a lamp behind you was having a seizure. Then the animations are just weird. Spider-Man exaggerates his gesticulations when he speaks, to the point that it looks as if the game is glitching. Then there's the sound. The music sounds a lot like the one from previous-franchise Spider-Man games, so they're not being particularly original. Voice acting is surprisingly mediocre. For reference, here's a list of the movie's cast members who've lent their voice and likeness to be used in the game: - Stan Lee. That's it. Yeah. No one else returned, which, again, is a surefire sign that this game was made CHEAP. Stan Lee, bless him, doesn't ask for much for his roles, as he does it for love to his characters, so it's not surprising he's here. But the problem becomes really striking for Spider-Man, who's the one character you have to listen all the time. His voice is quite annoying, specially because he just won't shut up while playing. Plus, again, he doesn't look or sound AT ALL like Andrew Garfield. If you're not a fan, you might think that's a plus, but the sad truth is that he doesn't look or sound like Peter Parker either. The game's story is an even bigger mess than the movie. There's no plot, just a collection of subplots laid out one after another, as if that's enough to form a cohesive story. The game is a sequel to the first game but also a retelling of the movie's story, which can and will get confusing. As I said before, I didn't play the first game on the PS3, but I did play the 3DS version, which has basically the same story, so trust me, things will get annoying. Another problem with the gameplay is that you are many times forced to play as Peter Parker in some areas. And I don't mean it as a skin/suit change. You are Peter Parker, photographer, and that's all you do. You can't jump, you can't swing, you can't fight. They take away all the fun parts of the game. You will also have to take pictures as Spider-Man, and it's not any more fun. You have to move the zoom on the camera until one exact point (when the meter turns green, good luck noticing that the first few times) or the picture won't be accepted, even if you take a better one than the one the game wants. They could have added a focus option to make this more realistic, but no, they cheapened it again. Yet another impossibly annoying part are the random events. Those are, in spirit, par for the course in an open-world Spider-Man game. You have random crimes or people in distress showing up and you can choose to tackle the problem for extra XP, for more gameplay or just to feel more like a hero. But see, in the old games, those were a CHOICE. Now you have a good/bad meter and you're forced to do them if you want to keep being considered a hero by the people. And I mean that in the most literal way. This is not like, say, Red Dead Redemption, in which your good/bad meter goes up if you help people and it goes down if you attack them. Here, the meter will go down simply by inaction. And I don't mean by going to a mission and failing. Missions show up ALL THE TIME on the map, but they go away a couple of minutes later and if you don't reach them in time or decide not to do them your meter will go down, and if it reaches the bad area you will be ATTACKED AS A CRIMINAL by a task force. For not going to the other side of the map to stop a random crime. I can't even begin to explain how mind-numblingy stupid that is. Another annoying part about those missions is that every single time after you finish one there will be a newscast scene talking about how people love Spider-Man. Every. Single. Time. When you finished your side missions in previous games, you got a congratulating message on screen but Spider-Man was instantly controllable again, and you could keep playing even while the message was still fading. Now you have to wait until the newscast ends, then until the camera fixes back behind Spidey again and then until the congratulatory message goes away. Every time. But see, combat is fun. It's not fantastic or anything, but it's serviceable. The side missions can be fun too, so you can just reach for the close ones and your meter will stay mostly in shape. And swinging is really, good actual fun, so there's always a good incentive to go from here to there. There are a bunch of collectibles and upgrades to be found, such as comic books which you can read, action figures which give the characters' backstories, new suits to wear or minigames to play. I could have forgiven all the bad if at least the game's good parts exceeded the bad ones. But then there are the bugs. Oh, my God, the bugs. And I mean game-breaking bugs. Yeah, there are graphic glitches once in a while, but those are merely annoying. These bugs, though, will ruin your fun. Spider-Man will get stuck on walls sometimes while swinging, so if you're in a hurry to reach a side-mission before it goes away, you will be out of luck until you can get him to jump off. Enemies will get stuck on walls, which can instantly knock them out, which will take away the fun of combat, or render them invincible, which will halt your progress. Sometimes missions just won't appear, so you will be stuck in open mode with nothing to do but swinging. Those last two will require you to exit the game and reload a save in order to continue playing, and, of course, there'll always be a section you have to replay. I want to make this very clear: very little care was put into this game. Spider-Man 2 on the GC/PS2/Xbox was the game that proved that movie-licensed video games could be great and didn't need to be haphazardly made because people would buy them just for the franchise. This one is the exact opposite. This game was definitely made in hopes people would buy it because of the movie. Don't be one of those people. I was one because, well, there was precedent. Unfortunately, instead of keeping with the tradition, they ruined it. I was fooled, but there's no reason you have to be too. There's value in this game, there's fun to be had, but not at the price they ask for it. Get this game when it's $20 or less. It's barely worth that, much less anything more.

The best part about this game is the ability to unlock ...
Thrilled with this game! It has been years since I played a free roaming Spider-Man game (Spider-Man 3). The best part about this game is the ability to unlock different spider suits, such as Iron Spider and Spider-Man 2099.

This is my most favourite Spider-Man game because of the story, enemies, Spideys costume and villeins! You can replay main missions and side missions and also unlock new suits. The new gameplay and story is amazing! Could do with more main missions and give you a chance to reach side missions on time.
