Chris Lubkemann is a well known author of children's books and crafts. His books are famous for their bright, colorful illustrations and easy to follow instructions. Chris has been featured on the "Today Show" and "Good Morning America" for his crafts. He lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, Bonnie, and their son, Eli. Chris Lubkemann is the author of over 100 books, many of which are geared towards children and young adults. Chris has been featured on the "Today Show" and "Good Morning America" for his crafts. Christopher John Lubkemann was born in 1965 in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were both artists who encouraged him to draw since he was a small child. In the 1980s he attended art school, where he fell in love with the craft of bookmaking. In the late 1980s he met a fellow artist named Bonnie Pritchett at an art store in Washington D.C., where they began working together on their own children's books. The two married in 1990 and were soon raising two children together while living near Baltimore, Maryland. Chris began publishing children's books full-time as of 1992, when they moved to Virginia. They currently live in Northern Virginia with their son, Eli, in a house built by Chris's father in 1930. Chris has received numerous awards including The Caldecott Medal (2002), The Coretta Scott King Award Honor Book (2002) and A Child's Garden of Verses (2006), among many others. He has also been featured on the "Today Show" and "Good Morning America". In his free time Chris enjoys painting, cooking, traveling and spending time with his family. He also enjoys reading classic literature such as Shakespeare and Dante Alighieri's "The Divine Comedy".
