The Good: The 3D models look great in spite of ...
The Good:The 3D models look great in spite of my previous skepticism. The controls feel very good to me, and I personally feel like inputs are a little more forgiving than those in Accent Core, but I can't tell if this is actually the case or just being slightly too excited about a new release. I thought trimming down the cast was a good move, because I felt the Accent Core cast was getting too big, and it was quite the task to keep track of how everyone functions. It's fun, complex, and doesn't forgive thoughtless play. The Bad:Team Red seems to have gotten a little carried away with the Unreal Engine. A dust into an aerial combo or a super now fixes the camera on the character using that move and does this 3D rotation for the former and an ultra close-up for the latter. It's difficult to counter/respond when your character is suddenly obfuscated or out of the shot entirely. What's more, the super start-up animation makes it slightly difficult to know right away if your attack connected. Another issue is that, while I stand by my statement that the playable cast had grown too large, trimming the cast down to something more manageable has two huge drawbacks. The obvious one being that Guilty Gear is a very complex game, and the best players learn one, maybe two characters, and sucks to be you if one or both were cut. Second is that, while it's now far easier to keep track of how everyone in the cast works, some of the variety of play styles is still lost and that is a sad. day for Guilty Gear.Specific to the Limited Edition:The "soundtrack" included is a "Vocal Collection," i.e. it does NOT come with the cast's themes; it only contains bits that include vocals. The artbook is decent, the packaging looks damn cool, and the keychain is a nice touch. However, since it doesn't come with a complete soundtrack, I am a little disappointed with the Limited Edition. The Whole:I'm thoroughly enjoying this game. I've played a ton already and I'm going to play much, much more. I'm mad that Testament, Baiken, and Dizzy are gone because I played as them and they were interesting builds absent from most fighters, and I'm sure similar things can be said about many of the others by other players. While I'm happy that I don't have to remember how 30 different individual characters work, I'm sad that a game with as many unusual play styles has lost some of its variety and has become more "vanilla."

It's Guilty Gear. What'd you expect?
That's right guys, Sol's back and ready to kick some FREE ASS! All jokes aside though, the gang's all here (excusing some like dizzy and the like.) and the game is extensive in tutorials, plot and the rest of the like that you'd expect from an arksys game. GG is still as extensive in combos, execution and gives a variety of ways to get through situations from having things similar to parrying, just defense, roman cancels and fluke roman cancels, IKs and "dream cancel" IKs, samurai showdown clash attacks (that buff you and encourage you to keep fighting.) and etc. The game really gives every sort of player an option on how to play, presuming they aren't running the whole match. The Collector's edition comes with a few goodies and a "Backyard" style case that looks like the book. (Which is cool.) However, not much of in-game bonuses were brought to the table with the Collector's Edition. (Which sucks, because that's where this leads into one of my issues.)It's been a while since I've last played, but presuming these things haven't been fixed, my only two issues were:One - The online play sketchy. It's sectioned off by regions and was still pretty dead American side - which is unfortunate. The connection issue with ranked matches seemed to kick me off a lot before I could even fight or just plain wouldn't find an opponent. And even when I did, there was no way to get out of an underwater lag death match once you've set everything up to search. Two - Arksys and it's damn DLC characters. I bought a Limited Edition version for the game and you mean to tell me you didn't even decide to include a "first 3 future DLC contents added free for limited edition customers!" or something? If you need to take time to work on the game, at least add more of the previous cast from the old GG before you start throwing in every Dick, Tom and Harry as a DLC character. However, if that's all fixed up, go ahead and get that one star back. Arksys did a great job on this game and it was much deserved to get a welcome back.

Guilty Gear is back
Let me start off by saying by far the best looking fighting game I have ever played. The character details are quite epic and destroy attacks are now like an anime cutscene. Some even get different and even multiple reactions from each character. Now it has been a long time since the last true Guilty Gear release and taking place after the events in Guilty Gear 2, that can make things a little confusing. So be prepared to go read the games profile library before going into Story mode.Story mode is also very different. Rather than fight a battle and trying to change outcomes, it is just story. That is right, get ready to sit and watch events unfold in gameplay cinematics and long dialogue. Does that sound bad? Well I mean it as a good thing since I watched it once by myself and then with my wife who thought it was just as amazing as I did.The fighting is smooth and back just as good as ever and while it features a smaller cast of characters, I really do not mind. After years if playing some form of Guilty Gear XX, it is great to play a new chapter in the story. Featuring some classic characters and some new, be prepared to see the Guilty Gear world in a whole new light. If however you just want to get into the beat downs, you can start off in the training room to master a few new moves for most of the classic characters and then take that on to a ring where perfectly timed presses can be the key to victory. After all three consecutive clashed can lead to one very quick death if your opponent manages to bring in a good combo first.

9/10
