I use a solder gun and remove the battery holder and replace with one I can change the batteries with. Operation is clear and easy (not difficult),colorful functions.Great choice **Q: Can this be used to cook with a crock pot?** A: Not sure where you got 800 watts.... the back of mine says 15 amps at 125v. 125X15=1875 watts.
