Like the pace/format
Havent gotten through much of this book yet, but I appreciate that it seems to be clearly laid out. Theres a build up in terms of difficulty (start out reading and translating, then moves onto writing) so it helps you get used to the script first. Overall seems like a great way to learn to write and read!

Excellent book.
This book expects one to begin reading Hindi from the get-go. Yet, amazingly enough, they make it fairly painless. I've had other books that try to do this and have failed. It's confusing. Hard to understand. Not this book. You will be speaking and reading from Lesson 1.

Structure with caveat
Pronunciations (included as a separate download or on the cd included with the textbook) are very helpful. I like the clarity of presentation. Exercises are paced to new material presented in the text book. Each lesson provides new vocabulary up front, with exercise unique "new" vocabulary then provided at the end of each section. This forces the student to be a little bit more active in their study. HOWEVER, the exercises then also reference vocabulary not formerly taught or defined at the end of each section, which forces the student to lookup words in the textbook or a dictionary. This happens with a great deal of consistency, to the point where it moves beyond frustration to becoming an actual stumbling block to learning, particularly when one is using this course in self-study. Often times I'd be put in a position where I'd feel bad at myself for not remembering a word, go to look it up in the textbook, and see (thanks to the page indicators in the dictionary) that in fact I had never been taught the word to begin with. It's as if I'm being actively made to feel stupid. :-\

I wish there were more write along challenges so you can practice your font but otherwise it is good. It follows the textbook and makes learning on your own easy.

No CD
There was no CD in the book, thus I wasn't able to hear or fully comprehend the workbook. This looked like a great way for my daughter to understand and write in her mother tongue, but I was severely disappointed. It looks like a great book, but the no CD issue ruined the book.
