SUIZAN Flush Cut Saw 5" - Japanese Pullsaw Hand Saws Wood Cutting | Professional Pull Saw for Woodworking Furniture Making DIY Tools Dowel Trim Plugs No Set Teeth Sharp Blade Ryoba Double Edge - desertcart.com

Review: Amazingly excellent tool! - Wow! This is an amazingly effective little tool. I'm not sure when if ever I've been so impressed with a tool. I needed a tool to cut off flush countersink plugs in pvc. I had trimmed out new porch posts with pvc and all of the pvc joints as well as the fastening to the post structure had been done utilizing 3/8" countersink holes for the screws. I had some 600 such holes to fill. I had tried a thin single-handle hacksaw-type blade and it worked very poorly; not cutting the pvc plug very easily and badly scuffing the surface around the plug. In contrast this pull-saw works beautifully. The kerf is extremely fine and the teeth are very sharp. The blade is thin and smooth and can be bent to lie entirely flat against the surface from which the exposed plug is being cut. I found I could cut off these 3/8" pvc plugs often using as few as two pull-strokes, and with zero marring of the surface. Made very short work of the job. A joy to use. Excellent product. Highest rating.
Review: Great Saw, Great Price and a Learning Curve. - I want to start this out by saying that I did not buy this saw because I needed it. This was bought solely based on seeing a friend of mine use one as well as my favorite YouTubers. I have waiting this long to review it because I wanted to use it on different materials and get past the learning curve. First and foremost...the learning curve. Get ready because there is one. Having grown up using a push saw for things, I figured that going to a pull saw would be easy. Not entirely. Pushing a pull saw can and will cause the blade to bend under pressure. However, take your time and use some scrap wood. It honestly only takes a few strokes to get the hang of it. Every now and then you will try to push it but the more you use it, the less that will happen. THEN, you will wonder why it took you so long to go to one. Secondly, this little saw can cut! I have used it on dowels, board trimming, cleaning dados and cutting Kaizen foam. It is extremely sharp and makes quick work of what ever you are needing. The result of the cut is smooth and requires very little sanding. Make sure to pay attention to the hardwood/softwood sides of the saw. The thin blade curves when you need it to without gouging the surrounding surface. Given the thin blade, the handle was my worry. The handle is easy to hold and allows you to make great cuts with little effort. A death grip isn't needed. Let the saw blade do the work and you will also be amazed. Overall, this little saw has sold me on pull saws. I will be ordering other sizes and styles of Suizan saws. Like the other reviewers have stated, I love it and don't know why I waited so long to get one.

## Features

- JAPANESE STYLE PULL SAW: This flush cut saw is a “Pull Saw.” Most people are used to European saws, called “push saws,” which cuts through a pushing motion. On the other hand, Japanese hand saws cut materials via pulling and are called “pull saws.” In comparison to “push saws,” this Japanese product is lighter in weight, requires less power, and results in a cleaner edge.
- JAPANESE STEEL: All SUIZAN Japanese saws consist of top quality Japanese steel. The high-quality steel makes razor sharp cuts.
- MADE IN JAPAN: All SUIZAN woodworking tools are manufactured in Japan by Japanese master craftsmen. The whole process of making these tools are completed in one of Japan’s towns known for its craft-making tradition with a history of over 100 years.
- BLADE FOR HARDWOOD AND SOFTWOOD: With this small hand saw, you can easily cut oak, sandalwood, ebony, mahogany, maple, walnut and pine with a robust blade for hardwood. The blade for softwood can be used for white cedar, Japanese cedar, larch, paulownia wood and many others. Not replaceable blade.
- DIVERSIFY YOUR WOODWORKING LIFE: No matter if you are a master or a beginner, using traditional Japanese-style saws gives you a brand new experience and lets you make a wider range of woodworking products, thus changing your life!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the purpose of a dedicated soft wood side?**
A: Cause soft wood gets very easily between teeth, so blade gets saturated and stop doing its job as it should, to solve that you need more free space between teeth allowing sawdust to drop.
Its similar problem with sand paper, if sawdust is too fine or soft, it gets in to grane very easily, saturating sand papper no sanding properly or as you spect to it should, to solve that is why you stop sanding with grit 240 and not 1200, cause at that point its still sanding but its a waste of time.

**Q: Is this hard to get out of the sheath?**
A: If your talking about the plastic cover ,no not at all,,i do not know of any other sheath,,

**Q: Can you use this for Trimming foam sealant ?**
A: Absolutely, perfect for that precise cut you need! A very thin sharp blade will work through your foam very easily!

**Q: Is there a hole in the blade to hang the saw for easy storage? My other handsaws have one, but I do not see any in the pictures here.**
A: No, there isn’t. But it comes in a clear plastic case with a grommet hole so you can hang it up. I always keep this saw in it’s case just for hanging purposes. Great saw!!!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thin. NOT for heavy duty handling
*by N***B on March 23, 2025*

you know, like your typical American-made hand saw. If you manhandle this, it will bend. It is, however, very forgiving on the learning curve. I’d wanted one of these for a LONG time, I thought, and for the price, needing something to make flush cuts in wooden plugs - and a LOT of trim/molding I found out later - I thought I’d buy one. First off, this is SHARP! First day, right out of the package, I somehow managed to cut my palm on the blade and I didn’t even feel it, just noticed red on my hand. Give this a LOT of respect. The cut on PULL design took about five seconds to get used to. It’s counterintuitive to how western saws work but once you use it, you’ll wonder why ALL saws aren’t made this way. Push-pull, different philosophies, same net result - this just seems easier. What I find this most useful for is making very fine, very thin cuts in wood trim and molding where the use of a handsaw would be awkward, or a chopsaw not giving me the fine control I need for smaller cuts or on smaller pieces of wood. This is very comfortable in the hand and makes very accurate cuts - the kerf is so fine I have to get higher power reading glasses to make sure I’m cutting ON or next to a 0.5mm mechanical pencil line - not that a cut that thin would make that much difference in fitting on the kind of stuff I work on, but I like to know where I’m cutting. This is small enough, light enough, to fit in your tool bag and get lost in there. One tip, and I don’t know for sure if this is stainless or not, but I folded a piece of paper in the plastic tube it came packaged in then soaked it with an anti-rust product. Cheap insurance and less chance of the teeth getting dinged/dented/dulled. One of my favorite tools now. Collect the set, save ‘em, trade ‘em!
