**Q: is this a good snare drum for a beginner?**
A: Yes! My 14 year old stepson just started playing in the drumline at school and I purchased the kit with stand, practice pad and the snare drum and it is working great for him. A pretty good deal.

I switched to Evans drum heads back in the 90's and haven't looked back since.I always have a great experience with Evans; the heads sit flat on my bearing edges break in and tune easily and stay that way with only touch ups needed for different rooms. I've never had a warped head or a hoop pull out of an Evans head unlike other brands I've used. I've even put them on entry level kits and made them sound like much more expensive ones!
