## Description

Review: Not so sweet marmalades, jams and preserves! - I really love this stuff. I was introduced to it in Germany by my sister in law. We always loved her marmalades and jams because they were not so sweet like the ones you find in the U.S. I brought some of this Gelfix Super 3:1 back with me on my last trip to Germany and after it was all gone I was so pleased to find it on desertcart! I don't really go by how much sugar they instruct you to use. I simply sweeten the fruit to taste (reserving a little bit of sugar to mix with the Gelfix) and then mix it all up and boil for 3 minutes stirring constantly, put into canning jars, turn upsidedown for 5 minutes, then rightsideup and let set till I hear the "pop." It is so easy and so delicious. It is very different from the product I have ever found in U.S. In my experience, I always had to add the sugar they called for or it wouldn't set up properly, but the Gelfix Super 3:1 seems to do well with very little sugar. It says you can also use a sugar substitute but I have not tried that yet.
Review: you don't have to use so much sugar - This product makes it so easy to make preserves without using a ton of sugar. You use one part sugar to three parts fruit, making the preserves taste better and they're healthier to eat.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this product gluten-free?**
A: No it doesn't look GF to me. For one thing I can't read German. And if it doesn't say GF then you shouldn't buy any powdered product. It could've been processed in a facility that processes wheat flour pastry mixes or anything else that has flour in it. There's no way to ensure that's not cross contaminated unless the manufacturer is testing it for the purposes of complying with a certification or internal verification of GF. The way to be sure is to write to the manufacturer and ask. Otherwise, don't risk your Ataxia or Celiac Disease, or any other illness on this or any other powdered products. GF is a much harder diet than any "health" diet.

**Q: How many envelopes are in Dr. Oetker Gelfix box?**
A: There are 2 envelopes in the box.

**Q: is gelfix from beef or fish?**
A: It is neither from beef or fish, it is made from lemons.

**Q: Are the directions in English?**
A: No but you can use google translate. It's pretty simple and you'll love the results.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not so sweet marmalades, jams and preserves!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ you don't have to use so much sugar
*by M***Y on February 14, 2025*

This product makes it so easy to make preserves without using a ton of sugar. You use one part sugar to three parts fruit, making the preserves taste better and they're healthier to eat.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for a not too sweet jam or jelly
*by J***R on September 16, 2013*

This is my second year of making home-made jellies. Last year, I used the typical products available in supermarkets - sugar and pectin. The results were good, but the relation of fruit to sugar made the jellies rather sweet, and a trial with sugar-replacement rather failed. This year, my mother, who still lives in Germany, sent me Dr. Oetker's gelling sugar that uses a ratio of fruit to sugar of 3:1, and the outcome was perfect. I could not find the gelling sugar for sale here in the U.S., but I did find the Gelfix Super 3:1 and it works the same way - super easy to use and perfect in its result. One just has to mix one bag of the Gelfix with 350 g of sugar (= 12.346 ounces), stir it into 1 kg of fruit (2.2 pounds) and bring to a rolling boil for a minimum of three minutes. Fill into glasses - done! The jellies taste very fruity and not too sweet.
