Heavy duty steel. I was surprised by the weight and very sturdy once its installed. This is probably the highest quality made in China product I have ever purchased lol. Put it together in 5 minutes and 5 minutes to install. I wanted it so I could throw groceries in the back of my F150 but it can be used as a bracket to hold heavy stuff in place. Fits under my hard bed cover no problem with height and width adjustments so a win win. Go get this thing before they run out. Only one negative. The guides to increase the height need to be lubricated to avoid jamming, since the middle one is on a screw to lower or raise the gate's height and the guides on the sides of the gate are not. So, if one side is higher or lower than the middle or opposite side, the gate will jam.
