## Description

Together at last! After four seasons of sparring and heated banter, TV's dynamic crime-solving team finds romance in ABC's CASTLE: THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON. Relive all 24 unforgettable episodes, complete with never-before-seen bonus features only available on DVD, in this spectacular five-disc set. Now that Castle and Beckett ("Caskett") have finally given in to their true feelings for each other, how will it affect their work together? As they try to keep their new relationship under wraps from their co-workers, the unlikely duo must track down the murderer of Beckett's mother, find the perpetrator of a major conspiracy and untangle a line of investigation that links Castle to a ritualistic killing. The action and passion heat up like never before in the brilliant fifth season of ABC's CASTLE!

Review: A great season (prior season spoilers) - +++Warning, this contains spoilers from the prior season but no major giveaways from season five.+++ The fifth season picks up with Castle and Beckett in the afterglow of finally hooking up and Beckett pretty hilariously sneaking out of Castle's place when Martha brings home a hungover Alexis. The season premiere also brings in the great Jack Coleman (from Heroes) and inserts him in a major way into the storyline involving Beckett's mother. The rest of the season manages to follow a similar case-of-the-week format that also weaves serial arcs in and out throughout the season. This season also includes the show's 100th episode which is a pretty hilarious take on the movie Rear Window. There is also an episode that has multiple nods to the series Firefly, including Fillion dressing up like his character Mal (and Alexis making fun of him for it). The show does a good job introducing obstacles and tension into the Castle-Beckett relationship to keep the show from getting stale after the leads finally get together. The DVD extras include deleted scenes, a gag reel, a few behind-the-scenes featurettes, and commentary tracks on selected episodes. So, there is quite a bit of material for those who like going through the bonus features. Overall, the series continues to be a good blend of drama a comedy. Fillion and Katic have very good onscreen chemistry in this season, and if the alleged personal issues that led to the end of the show had started between the two of them, it was not obvious in the episodes. The writing and acting were very good and the show ended on yet another cliffhanger. If you have liked the prior seasons of the show, you will probably still like this season. You definitely will want to watch the prior seasons before jumping into this one because, while the episodes are mostly self-contained, there is a lot of character development that has happened up to this point that is helpful to have seen.
Review: CASTLES & QUEENS; SEASON FIVE - I title this season (5) CASTLES AND QUEENS because I think the primary actor (Nathan Fillion) and actress (Stana Katic) are virtually king and queen of the murder, comedy, and melodrama series on TV and I include BONES, THE MENTALIST along with CASTLE. All 3 shows are excellent but seem to follow similar story lines. I have all the episodes of the three shows on DVD or video libraries (from desertcart of course!) and they all have their virtues and vices. But Beckett is so charming and hot, one wonders why Castle took so long to get together with her. It does seem that all the women (Bones, Beckett and Lizbon) have walls built around them fearing to get to close to anyone. They all have problems in their childhood perhaps that caused these walls to be built. In this season we have quite a variety of story lines, from Alexi being kidnapped (two part episode) to mocking STAR TREK, to romantic interludes, Castle being framed, and poking fun and horror stories. Like the other shows these five seasons has a great supporting cast (Ryan and Esposito) and a nasty female boss who for some odd reason wants to be addressed as "sir". And like other shows there are very obnoxious people, specifically Castles mother: arrogant, a moocher and a big spender (of Castles money). She reminds me of that old hag in "SUNSET STRIP" who dreamt of making a comeback in movies: "I'm ready for my closeup, Mr DeMille!" She repels me like Dr Sweets in BONES, a lousy actor who doesn't know the first thing about psychology! But overall, an excellent, very entertaining series with superb acting, fine photography and gooey special effects. I noticed the gooeyness seems to gotten more messy from the earlier series: influenced by BONES perhaps. Some excellent aerial shots of Manhattan, though I live in NYC I haven't been to Manhattan in some years. I put Stana Katic right up there with Emily Deschanel and Robin Tunney as the "Persons I would most like to meet!!". Lovely, sexy and great actresses to boot. Live long and Prosper, CASTLE!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great season (prior season spoilers)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BEST WRITING OF ALL!
*by D***B on October 30, 2015*

I was reluctant to start watching yet another show. I'm up to date season-wise on several other shows, all of which are quite popular and average 4.5/5 stars consistently. I saw this show I'd never heard of called "Castle" and it consistently got 5/5 stars with over 1000 reviews!?! I had to at least put it in my wish list to ponder. It stayed there for about a year. I was caught up watching my other shows (NCIS (the one with Gibbs), Criminal Minds, GRIMM, Hawaii 5-0, Bones, The Closer (before it ended), House (before it ended), CSI: NY (before it ended), Rizolli and Isles, and Major Crimes), so I finally decided to give Castle a try. WOW! So far all 5 seasons are funny, have great action, the show's main storyline is a new idea, it's been cast VERY WELL, and the acting is GREAT. However, the thing I think is the greatest about it is the WRITING!! How they are able to come up with such great story ideas so consistently is amazing! All the other shows have excellent writing as well, but I can usually figure out "who did it" or how it's going to end about 1/2 or 2/3 of the way through. Not in Castle. I have been wrong about 95% of the time to the point where I've almost given up trying, but that doesn't take away from the viewing experience ... it adds to it! These reviews often have spoilers, but I'm not gonna do that because I don't need to. I'll just say this is one helluva GREAT show that you should consider, but start FROM THE BEGINNING (Season 1) as it is best seen in order. I hope the writers of Castle are able to stay this creative for several more years.
