The pieces were all present and in new condition, as well as all of the required nuts and screws. Contrary to what some reviewers have reported, ALL of the nuts and screws fit perfectly. Some of the screws had a unique, rubber coating on the inside of the nut - this allows for a much tighter, more secure connection thus increasing the longevity of the device. The instructions (as well as the quantity) clearly indicate where those special nuts are to be used. It fits my door-frame perfectly; the inner space between my door-frame measures 30 inches. So I guess from outer-edge to outer-edge that makes my door-frame about 34 inches. The instructions were very, very clear and complete assembly took me about 10-15 minutes. The instructions say that the device holds up to 300 lbs. Through the use of a weight-vest I've tested it to 200 lbs without any problem or anything to make me think that the device couldn't withstand at least another 50 lbs. Ergonomics are well thought out c. Supports my 185 pound frame well with no noticable frame flex/shift d. No noticable damage to door frame, I plan to buy some felt to cover the wood/wall contact points but it looks ok as is. Cons: a. Hardware - some of the screws/bolts are wrong for this application. I spent about $2.00 extra to buy a couple of new bolts with locking nuts. This is to replace the oddly square headed ones that are supposed to go in the wood portion. I also bought "locking" washers all the way around for all bolts - total cost +2.00. It has been mentioned before that a few of the plastic protective caps are missing - mine was the same case. Photo advertising is somewhat misleading. As a chin up bar I give it high marks but the multi function excersises (photos) leave a bit to be desired. I've never had to re-tighten any of the nuts and bolts and it still works just as good as when it was new. -----original review----- Despite some of the negative reviews I ordered this bar anyway. It took me about 10 minutes to put it together, without instructions. Those having trouble must be missing a few brain cells. The quality is good for the price. Not the greatest, but it holds my weight (180 lbs.) just fine, without feeling like it's going to come apart. Having the bar sitting in my doorway is great; Every time I walk by I do 4 chin ups. It's so convenient that you get a workout without thinking about it. It's motivated me to get back into the gym and I've already seen a nice improvement. Using it for deeper push ups is great too.
