Review: Great mic but has some problems - The mic works amazingly, I use it in front of my speakers and it only picks up my voice, there are no consonant sounds, and it picks up bass and mids nicely. I ordered this mic for my 64-bit windows 7 computer, despite several warnings against it. I was worried at first, and my worst fears were confirmed when I plugged it in, and even after boosting the levels, it would barely record audio unless I was yelling into it from inches away. A few Google searches later yielded that the some mics shipped with faulty wiring, namely the pre-amp current wires were switched. That is, the microphone itself amplifies noise it receives before transmitting it to the computer, and the two wires that connect the mic head to the circuit board were switched. I read that the two wires labelled M1 had to be switched, and upon switching them the mic worked as intended. It took about 5 minutes of soldering at most, and was a very easy task, even though I have never soldered anything before. I will admit that it was an annoyance to have to do this, but apparently it is a problem with about 5% of the mics that ship out. I caution against buying this product if you're not prepared to either send it back if it doesn't work (You'll have to pay shipping but you'll get a working one back), or solder it yourself. If you want to solder it yourself and you received a broken one, look on the left side of the circuit board after opening the mic with the four screws on the bottom, and there should be two connections labelled M1. The green wire should be on the left. If it is not, switch the wires.
Review: Excellent microphone for desktop usage - If you want a nice desktop microphone at a reasonable price, this is a good choice. The sound quality is very good for most purposes (probably not professional-level recording) and picks up sound well. At times it is almost too sensitive, picking up stray noises that I don't want, but that is to be expected. My one big complaint with this microphone is that it isn't an durable as I would have liked. I thought that it wouldn't be a problem to put it in my bag and tote it back and forth between my home and my office. After a couple of trips, the stem broke. I have been able to glue it and the microphone still works well. Since then, it has broken a couple more times, and each time I just re-glue it. It is obviously not ideal, but it suffices. Given that this wasn't advertised as a portable device, I can't really blame the manufacturer, but I'm not giving it 5 stars because it seems like it could be a little less fragile. If you plan on setting the microphone on desk and leaving it there, this would be a great choice.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great mic but has some problems

The sound quality is very good for most purposes (probably not professional-level recording) and picks up sound well. At times it is almost too sensitive, picking up stray noises that I don't want, but that is to be expected. ### ⭐ BEWARE Win 7 users!!!

Bought this noice-cancelling usb mic from logitech with great enthusiasm and was eagerly waiting for the summer when everyone wud be able to hear me crystal clear on skype (with this skype certified mic) even when id have had my fan on, or id be able to chat without having to turn the fan off. But all my dreams were shattered even when i tried to use it in a very quiet room. This thing has MAJOR problems with the drivers. It may work ok on Windows xp, but it gives big headache on windows xp sp3 and windows 7-64bit. When i first plugged it in, it installed easily and automatically became the default device, which was expected but then it was not picking any voice. At first i thought that maybe i am doing something wrong or missing some very obvious point, tested it on another system, same thing happened, checked all setting and they were all correct, googled to see if it was a common problem or just me facing it, and found out that this problem has been there for years and logitech is not doing anything about it. Found a tweak on some forum, that if u unplug the mic, restart ur system and plug it in a different port, then it starts to work, which it did. But then another problem appeared that the voice was way too low. I literally had to put the mic in my mouth and speak quite loudly and what i would hear in return in a very low whisper. Also, it wud stop working sometimes as well and save u the pain of trying to hear ur own whisper. There are many threads dedicated to highlighting this problem but logitech is simply not doing anything to sort out this issue. They just need to write a driver for it, dont think that it should be a big deal for a company as big as Logitech. I had started to trust logitech as some of their products that i used worked like a charm and i bought this microphone without doing any research as i thought that since its from Logitech, it would work.... but neither did it work nor is logitech doing anything abt it. I will not not recommend it to anyone. I dont think that in 2011, there are many users who are using XP without SPs, my guess is that it will work nicely for them, everyone else needs a proper driver from Logitech which they are neither providing nor writing.
