I had another one that had a shaped bar that straddled the top of the coupler. It was eventually lost, but I never did like the amount of play it had even when fitted as tight as I could get it. Also I always imagined that one or two good blows with a sledge hammer would have snapped it off. Because this one utilizes the common flange around the coupler, it would appear to draw on its strength to resist being pounded off. I think even if a grinder were applied to it, it would take a long time to effectively cut through enough of it to remove it. I also double up by using a special high-quality stainless bolt lock designed for the lever that locks the coupler to the hitch. So the SOB that tries to get my trailer is going to need all the determination and time he can muster. Yeah the lock is awkwardly keyed on the bottom, but it's a small price to pay for confident security, Buy it.
