I have found they last a long time before needing to be changed. Maybe try another filter and see what happens. Thoroughly clean everything first. **Q: I just received my filters on august 4. by august 6 the tester reads 16. is this defective filter? there is only one person in household.** A: The filter normally works between 3-4 months for myself, 2 months when my son is home from college. A failure so quickly can be caused by a number of things; the filter may not be seated in the holder correctly, the filter may not be tightened or the fulfillment company damaged the product before shipping but shipped it anyway.
