Great upgrade for my Ruger Alaskan!
I purchased and installed this HiVis FO Sight on my Ruger Alaskan .44 Mag. You don’t have to be a gunsmith but it does take some mechanical aptitude to install these. First you will need a 1/16” starter pin punch and also a 1/16” pin punch to push out and reinstall the front sight roll pin. I found the easiest and best way to do it without elongating the pin hole or ruing the new sight is to first use the starter punch to push the roll pin further into the hole and out the other side. You will have to switch to the regular punch to get it further out enough to clear the factory sight. Once it’s past the sight but not all the way out you can wiggle the factory sight out. I then cleaned the slot of any oil and test fit the HiViz sight to see how it fit. I had to slide my sight to the furthest point forward so that the small lip on the sight rests and holds the sight in the correct position. Holding it in this position I got my drill with a 1/16” drill bit carefully lined up the bit in the hole so it touched the side of the sight. I then drilled just enough to leave a decent countersink on the sight to mark the drill hole location. I then removed the drill from the hole and the sight from the gun and put the sight in my vice and finished drilling all the way through where my drill mark was located. I then wiped away any drill shards and cleaned the sight to get rid of any oil on the lower surfaces of the sight. I then test fit the sight back in the slot and used the punch in the hole to verify everything lined up. It was perfect! I then removed the sight applied some Red Loctite to the hole and bottom part of the sight and refit it into the slot, holding it forward so the holes lined up. I then flipped the gun and used my punches to push the roll pin that was sticking out the other side back through the sight and other side of the gun and made sure it was even in the hole. I wiped off any excess loctite and let it cure for 24 hrs in my safe sitting upright. Took the gun to the range and had to raise my rear sight to get my point of impact dialed in with my point of aim and the sight works great! The Green FO definitely makes it more visible that just a black front sight in the sight alignment/picture!

Tricky Install
Follow the directions on the package. Back the current set screw all the way out of the OE Ruger Sight. Carefully remove the two little springs under the sight. Partially thread the set screw into the HIVIZ sight. Turn the pistol over with the trigger facing up. With the new sight facing up, place the two little springs in the small holes on the new sight. Align the new sight facing up under the pistol, align the two springs and set screw with the pistol's threaded hole. Press and hold the new sight up against the inverted pistol. With a fine bladed screwdriver, screw the set screw in about 2-3 turns so it barely snug. Turn the pistol over and reinsert the roll pin. Gently tighten the set screw. PATIENCE.

Poor machining
The screw hole does not alight properly with the hole on the pistol. It causes the sight to bind and the locking ball does not engage with the adjustment screw because of this. It makes it less than accurate and a waste of my money. Why can't they get the measurements correct?

Add on for a Buckmark Field model
This sight was listed for the Ruger Alaskan. After checking the dimensions is expected this to fit the picatinny rail on my Buckmark. I was correct. The only thing I needed to do was position it in the slot and drill a 1/16 hole in the bottom of the sight for the retaining pin. The sight mounts just a little higher but not enough to fret about zeroing in. The fiber optic pipe on the sight gathers a good bit of light and glows nicely. The lighted end of the sight is pretty small but very visible. Great buy for the quality. It shipped quickly and arrived in good shape. I would recommend the sight and seller.

A perfect fit
Installed on GP100 7-shot. Perfect fit, should be the OEM sight instead of what Ruger supplied.

This site also fits the new Taurus Raging Hunter in 44 Magnum
I searched for a red optic sight for my new Taurus Raging Hunter.I actually purchased 3 different HIVIZ front sights, hoping that one of them would fit.None of the 3 was an exact fit, but this particular sight was the best overall match. The curved base underneath is exactly the same as the original manufacturer blade. The length is perfect, fits like a glove. The only issue, is that this sight is about 1/16 - 3/32 of an inch too tall. What this means is that you will need to raise your rear sight about 1/16 - 3/32 of an inch, to level out the shot.I had enough "play" in my rear sight that I was able to raise it enough to bring the rounds on target.I wish that HIVIZ would make this exact same sight, about 1/16 - 3/32 of an inch shorter, as that would be perfect for the new Taurus Raging Hunter. But, until that happens, this sight will work.
