The windex cleaned the superficial stuff fine but when using this Cleaner it was more of a deep clean. The Fins went from Grey to Silver! Like a brand new unit. When cleaning the inside pre filter I did the same thing. Started out with the windex then remembered this stuff. Even after cleaning with windex after applying this Cleaner my sink filled up with black water again. On the Picture you can see some of the difference because I didn’t get the cleaner on evenly. This stuff really works. I’m sold. That being said. I would not use it on my coils every year. Or if I did I would not let it sit for 5 minutes like the first time use . I think it may eat the aluminum if used too often. I’m not sure, but this stuff is powerful !!! It would burn too severely for any mini or micro sized pimps, or even modest size pimps. I would say, definitely go for full sized pumps only. The variable being for the mini’s, if they have an extremely strong pimp-hand, then they could probably withstand chafing and burning on their hand only. **Q: Is this safe to use around ornamental trees/plants? I have hollys, hostas, pachysandra and a japanese maple nearby.** A: I used on my central air unit that sits between hostas and rinsed it off with water.
