From the manufacturer The guitar is a exceptional instrument - capable of producing an enormous variety of different styles of music. Many guitarists find that alternative tunings are an exciting doorway to new chord shapes and new music - despite the frustration of having to re-tune the guitar to and from standard tuning; the unpredictability of doing so in front of an audience; or the inconvenience of swapping guitars. What if there was an accessory which was simple to use in the same way that a capo is and which would allow split-second Drop tuning? It would have to clip onto almost any guitar without modification; be applied to the string you choose; be removable instantly; be accurate and fully adjustable to accommodate different string gauges, scale lengths and drop pitch intervals. That is exactly what the Pitch-Key is - from Drop D and beyond, the Pitch-Key can be used on electric and acoustic steel string guitars as a creative musical tool or as problem solver for the performing guitarist. PK-01 Key Features Suitable for both Electric and Acoustic Guitars. Maximum recommended string gauge 0.054". Two or more Pitch-Keys can be used on a single guitar. For Steel String guitars, not recommended for nylon strings. Fitted and removed without any modification to the guitar. Instructions for installing the Pitch-Key 1. De-tension the string It is important to de-tension the target string as this will make fitting the Pitch-Key easier and will avoid stress to the string. Tune down by a couple of turns to make the string quite pliable. 2. Set to 'Low' pitch position Set the Pitch-Key in the 'Low' pitch position by rotating the thumbwheel fully counterclockwise at which point the piston should drop fully downwards, ready to accept the string. 3. Locate Stabilizers The stabilizer legs go on either side of the adjacent string so that the Pitch-Key stays in position. The stabilizer legs should fit loosely over the adjacent string and should not grip onto it. 4. Hook 'Piston' under string The flange of the piston should be hooked under the target string - also make sure that the outer lug (closest to the nut) is sitting over the target string and that the stabilizer legs are in place. 5. Hook outer lug over Lift the outer lug over the target string so that the Pitch-Key is attached securely on to that string. Position the Pitch-Key so that it does not touch any part of the nut, headstock or tuning post. 6. Tune string to 'Low' pitch The lower of the two pitches is set by using the guitar's tuning post. For example, if you are using a Drop D tuning, then tune to a 'D' with the guitar's tuning post as shown. 7. Rotate to 'High' pitch Rotate the thumb-wheel clockwise nearly one full turn until it comes to a stop – this is the 'High' pitch where the string is tensioned to an extent set by the fine-tuning hex key. 8. Fine tune with hex key Fine-tune the 'High' pitch using the 1.5mm hex key. In this example, we would fine-tune to a standard 'E'. Now alternate between 'High' and 'Low' pitch positions several times and re-adjust if necessary.

Review: Really nice and does the job for quarter of price from other brands - On the package says that it's recommended for 54 gauge. I got 2 of those cause I wanted to see if it's any good as I saw on YouTube. One is on my drop C# 56 gauge and one is on my drop B 60 gauge. Works perfect!
Review: It works! - Was drop tuning curious but was stuck in a rut with regular E tuning, now have best of both worlds, if you’ve never tried one finger power chords in drop D (which I hadn’t before this device) you are seriously missing out! Fitting the Pitch Key was very straight forward which then took 5 mins of fine tuning and I was away, guitar fitted with 10’s and found zero issues with tuning stability on the E string to which it was fitted or any other string, what ever position I switched the tuning to all strings kept 100% pitch. I’m no SRV just a home player looking to inject some something different into the mix to break up the cycle of repetitive noodling, if this is you I can whole heartedly recommend the Pitch Key 👍

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Would this work on standard classical guitar headstock?**
A: First off. I haven’t tried it on a classical guitar, but I’ve used it on Fender and Gibson style headstocks, as well as electro-acoustic guitars with no issues. The only guitars I’ve yet to have success with are headless guitars. Bass and guitars with heavier/thicker strings are challenging but some _can_ work.

As long as you have some space between the string and the headstock just as the string comes over the nut, you _should_ be ok…

**Q: Does the guitar case shut with it on**
A: Difficult to answer as I don’t know what guitar or case you have and even then as I probably won’t have the same guitar and case as you so I won’t know the gap between headstock and case but having said that I have just measured the Pitch-Key and you will need to allow for an extra 25mm of space above the string you fit it too.

**Q: Does this work on floyd rose locking system**
A: As the tuning key is set on strings behind the nut then it will neither fit nor be able to to pull or release  the E string

**Q: Can you do Dadgad , with three of them**
A: The documentation only recommends dropping the top E by a semitone to Eb. I haven’t tried it but it might not have enough tension range to drop it a full tone?

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Instant Drop Tuning for maximum convenience

I initially bought this to compliment my Digitech Drop pedal to switch to any tuning instantly while playing Rocksmith but an additional benefit has been that I can learn any song without having to worry about retuning, higher guage strings and adjusting truss and saddle height. Installation was very simple. It fits perfectly behind the nut of my Ibanez RG and required minimal fine tuning using the provided hex key. Removing it when replacing the strings is a breeze. Timbre of the guitar is not impacted at all. I can't possibly think of any cons, would recommend pairing it with a Digitech Drop Pedal.
